This is Merrill Lynch Nanotech Index chart:

Repost from Yahoo MB by me:

If you look at the StockChart for Merrill Lynch Nanotech Index, the "recent" profit taking is a "small bump" for the ML Nanotech Index.

The chart is very bullish, representing the overall Nanotech sector.

Look, not every stock goes straight up (check HANS $2 to $100, split 2:1, down to $40 and now back up to $67!!!)

NVAX and nanotechs had a "huge" gains the last 2 weeks and was bound to selloff. The real question is "Where is the bottom and when will it rebound?"

Let's watch the market in the coming days to see if the "nanotech sector" as a whole rebounds. If they do, NVAX and ML Nanotech Index will once again climb again.

Time will tell

i agree we're getting back positive momentum and a rebound could be around the corner. I guess i'll wait to see if today's the start of the reversal and see if it continues it's strenth tomorrow. before jumping back in.

I think we should consider this also.  Yesterday, there was a surging gain with the market (especially techy Nasdaq) and this morning there is profit taking across the board.  That's expected.  And I am sure NVAX and other nano-biotechs and not immune from market trend, especially with the recent NVAX drop from $6 to $3.50, buyers are undoubtly cautious.

NVAX is due for a rebound soon.  I believe once the over-all market profit taking is done and the bullish market rebounds, NVAX rebound may also return.

Well, have a nice weekend!  I am going out of town this morning, and I will post back Saturday evening!

Good trading!

As the Avian bird flu/WHO/EU/Bush H5N1 vaccine media frenzy begins to taper, we should consider the following:

Novavax doesn't "just" produce vaccines.  In fact, vaccine production is a component of Novavax.  As a manufacturer of FDA approved and patented pharmaceutical products, we should start considering Novavax as a nano-biotech pharma who "also" produces DNA/cell culture based vaccines.

Looking at the latest Income Statement for the last quarter below, the numbers are improving.  Since $12.5 million ($2 million down payment and $10 million by end of December) deal with Esprit did not reflect on the last quarterly report, Novavax is already in the "black" for the next quarter!

There's been much discussion on the Yahoo NVAX MB regarding tomorrow.  My take is that there are good and not so good news about NVAX/Avian vaccine right now.  Most seem to agree that NVAX is due for a rebound - the question is when and how much will NVAX rebound.  Instead of "baseless" idle chat, we should let market dictate next week.  Once again, this swing trader will be watching NVAX very close at market open.

NVAX being kicked out of the biotec index will probably cause some funds to dump this stock. Shaky retailers will likely follow since the bird flu stuff is getting old. Since you are a swing trader I guess you will buy on a big dip to avarage down?  Does this make sense?

Thanks basheralert123 for the post from Yahoo MB:

voipssimo, I am not sure if this is the rule but if it is, then it would explain why.  As to this short-term swing trader, I am watching NVAX for the much anticipated rebound.  If it happens, I will swing trade NVAX.  If it doesn't, then I will move on.

"...if the stock is under 100 Million capitilization for any 2 consecutive quarters, then the stock is removed from the index at its next review.. which it happens to be now.... So now look at the past few quarters; the stock was under 100 M cap... howerver NOW it is no longer under 100M.. so basically it's being removed for previous activity.. so what. This doesn't affect the price of the stock. The index fund can be purchased AND SHORTED both... meaning it can go up or down depending on if it's bought or sold.. just like any other stock and NVAX is just one of MANY components meaning the effect of such buying and shorting is negligible. If you cannot understand this, you're certainly having issues grasping the real world."

Not sure if it will reach my buy target but I see NVAX bottoming sometime late this week/early next week. The 2.50 area provides a nice place to start accumulating shares....

Decling wedge (reversal pattern) Further sell off is possible but not likely given the already "oversold condition"
