EliteG....I know i'm a newbie but come'on...thoughts so far?

do we have a sell target for this?  I'm thinking it should make new all-time-high but the chart is too steep in my opinion and we might want to consider downside protection.

Hey Schmi0  ;D  You gotta be happy with NVAX so far.  ;)  I should explain that the 3SOF portfolio is not about intra-day moves so we will update, if needed, end of day.  We stick to our trading plan, which is holding a FIRE stock like NVAX until it gives us a reason to sell.  No reason right now.. I want to see this guy break 7!

Happy to have you aboard :)

A technical target on this is much higher then where we are at.  As an avian-flu trend play NVAX remains in play.. even with the steepness in the chart  ;)  The 10 dollar level can act as a magnet here if NVAX can really get going  >:D  So for now NVAX is simply a hold.

EliteG,
....thoughts for pm update...
       A) overbought?
       B) many have entered short positions...breaks 7 could be explosive with covering
       C) exit plan if your apprehensive?

Always grateful for your input!  Schmi0

update NVAX:

NVAX gained 5.26% today and closed at its high.  We are up 11% in 2 days and of course it is tempting to take profits.   ;)

Yet, NVAX shows no sign of weakness as it made a new 52-week high!  For now we must let this play develop and perserve our position in a potential monster.

A) stock on fire usually show up as overbought.. and stocks can stay in overbought territory for quite some time  ;)
B) I use this site to check on short positions (http://www.shortsqueeze.com/index.php?symbol=nvax&submit=Enter) and from the data, if its accurate  ;), shorts are running scared!  So a squeeze less likely, imo.
C) this guy has an exit plan(scroll down) http://www.thestreet.com/_yahoo/markets/activetraderupdate/10273845.html?cm_ven=YAHOO&cm_cat=FREE&cm_ite=NA
I agree but for now I'm not putting a stop on and I will watch closely  ;)

Hi EliteG,

I took profits on NAVX yesterday.  When to buy it back?  I also took profits on GNA, MRVC, ANGN, and I couldn't figure out how to safely buy them back.  So, I just watch them going higher without me.   ???

I have small account, so I don't want to sell half...I hate to see NAVX going higher without me...Can you help?

Thanks.

Melf didn't answer my questiion about the three white candles but you sure did by adding it to the portfolio. Thanks. It sure looked to me as a clone of those 3 candles back on Dec 28th. They led to an appx 65% gain in short order.

News on Govt Funding for NVAX on IV/ AIDS.

Novavax Receives Additional Government Funding for IV/AIDS Vaccine Research
PR Newswire - March 16, 2006 07:01

MALVERN, Pa., March 16, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Novavax, Inc. (Nasdaq: NVAX), announced approval today from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), a component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), of an additional commitment of approximately $1.0 million to fund the third year of a 4 1/2 year research program. Novavax is developing a novel HIV/AIDS virus-like particle (VLP) vaccine as part of an NIH Integrated Preclinical/Clinical AIDS Vaccine Development Program comprised of scientists from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Emory University, and Harvard Medical School. All three institutions are working with Novavax in a collaboration to accelerate HIV/AIDS vaccine development.

Dr. Gale Smith, Vice President of Vaccine Development, explains, "We believe the only realistic solution to the global HIV/AIDS pandemic is an effective vaccine. Novavax is extremely pleased to be working with such an acknowledged group of world leaders in developing a novel HIV/AIDS vaccine. Our research is based on our insect cell technology for the production of recombinant virus particles that mimic HIV-1, but without the risk of infection." According to Dr. Beatrice Hahn, one of the principal investigators at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, "Globally circulating strains of HIV-1 are extraordinarily variable, and this diversity poses a major obstacle to AIDS vaccine development. Currently, all candidate vaccines are derived from contemporary HIV-1 isolates, often selected solely based on availability. With VLP vaccines produced by Novavax, we are now testing whether consensus immunogens can elicit broadly cross-reactive immune responses and thus protect against a wide range HIV-1."

In the first two years of the program, Novavax developed a process to manufacture HIV-1 VLPs from consensus sequences of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein, the principle target for virus neutralization. These synthetic genes were shown to be incorporated into particles that are structurally similar to HIV-1. Scientists at UAB, Emory, and Harvard discovered that the novel HIV/AIDS VLP vaccines induced a range of immune responses and antibodies in small animals and non-human primates that neutralized both laboratory strains and acute, contemporary HIV-1 isolates. The objectives for the team during 2006 are to maximize efficiency of incorporation of the HIV-1 envelope glycoprotein into particles. Novavax then plans to begin preparations for human clinical trials of an improved HIV/AIDS VLP vaccine.

I'm getting an itchy trigger finger to take profits before a retracement.

Do we have a target in mind?  Currently sitting at $7.50

Thanks...JOdy

I went ahead and pullled the trigger at $7.48 for a decent gain in less than week.  Applaud for the pic.  Would like to re-enter a lower level....hopefully I didn't make a mistake.
