Atari Inc. has bought multiple licenses to use Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3 in developing video games.
Terms of the deal were not released.

licensing and engine is not good news for atari.

it shows atari does not own their own technology despite buying Shiny Entertainment years ago.  atari will have to pay large royalties for use of the engine.

atari also was just sued by one of its largest game creators.

i agree atari dropped pretty low but i am not sure it is ready to climb back that high.

Anything that will allow a company to stay out of bankruptcy and make a good deal of money selling games for Xbox 360 and PS3 is better than nothing.  I agree it isn't good for Atari to have to depend on another company for technology in the long term... but this is the short term board and this thing could still be a quick 50%.  It could fill the gap to 2.25 by Monday with the solid price movement over the past couple days but after some short term moves and the xmas season... I'm not too sure about the health of the company either.  Definitely a short term play and a good play for xmas w/ Xbox 360 involvement.

Insider transactions look pretty good too.  Infrogames just bought a large position and institutional buyers have been active too.
