Volume PPS spike...don't know what's up...it is a water filtration company, so maybe someone knows some good news is coming?????

jdno

Actually they make micro-particle filters and have a mask called the "nanomask" that is designed to kill viruses and other extremely small nasty airborne particles...such as the AVIAN FLU.

It supposedly is the only mask that can protect someone from such a small virus.

Other dust masks, such as the N95 masks, simply don't protect against such small particles

They have some sort of relationship with the US military as well as a BIG Japanese conglomerate (Itochu) for future orders and distribution and such, but they've had a slow commercialization launch and to be honest I'm not real sure to what degree they could supply masks if this avian flu pandemic reaches scary proportions and they receive an overwhelming interest in their masks.

Nevertheless and imo, it seems to be catching some speculative money off of this worldwide issue.

You can read more about this company at http://emergencyfiltration.com, about their recent press releases at http://emergencyfiltration.com/PressReleases.htm, and about the nanomask at www.buynanomask.com

From what I can tell, it seems that the company has about 40 million shares fully diluted, and shares outstanding currently is 34.5 million or so.

It seems the stock may be running on the following news story:

http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Flu/story?id=1182529&page=1

So I've seen the nanomask advertised for purchase on the Internet (at www.2hdistributors.com and www.buynanomask.com) for $7-$8.  If you buy more than 1 you get a discount but I'll disregard that for now.  Also, the replacable filters that go into the nanomask are advertised for $10 for a pack of 10 or $20 for a pack of 25 at these same sites.  I'll assume that the company sells the nanomask to its distributors for $3 - $4 each, and the filters for $0.30 - $0.40 each.  The article says they're making 100k - 200k masks a week, which implies $300k - $800k per week in revenue using my assumptions.  What's not mentioned is how many filters the company is now making to be able to make a WAG on the filter media revenue.

Regardless, it seems like the company should really be ramping their revenues from this product alone.

Perhaps someone who is more versed in manufacturing and distribution business models can chime in with some thoughts on my margin assumptions above.

EMFP Emergency Filtration Products To Increase Production of NanoMask to Meet Growing Demand Caused by Avian Flu Threat
Business Wire - October 10, 2005 8:01 AM (EDT)

HENDERSON, Nev., Oct 10, 2005 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Emergency Filtration Products, Inc. (EFP) (OTCBB: EMFP) today announced that it is planning to increase production of its NanoMask due to a surge in demand. The company has placed an initial order for the production of 500,000 filters from a West Coast based supplier. The filters, which are expected to be manufactured within the next several weeks, will then be shipped to EFP's Henderson, Nevada facility where they will be enhanced with nanoparticles and packaged.

Concurrently, the company expects to receive 50,000 mask shells from Taiwan and has placed an initial order for an additional 100,000 mask shells from its Taiwanese supplier. At the first stage of its production ramp up, EFP expects be able to assemble up to 50,000 masks and nano-enhance 200,000 filters per week. The final assembly will be done in Henderson as soon as EFP receives the filters and mask shells. EFP plans to further increase its production capacity as demand dictates.

"Over the past few weeks we have experienced a strong increase in orders for the NanoMask, which we believe is due to the growing threat of a possible avian flu pandemic," said Douglas K. Beplate, President, EFP. "As a result, and due to a number of potentially large orders from a number of medical products distributors in the United States and abroad, we are gearing up production capacity to meet the growing demand for the NanoMask."

Still moving, up 15% on friday.

Avian flu related sector is still very hot...closed above  52 week high of .75, volume was very high and has been so for several days.

Has taken a bounce after a 61.8% Fibonacci retracement.
IMHO.... EMFP has found its current bottom. Reversing if you look at stochastic,Also: note that MACD is beginning to reverse, and it is still a positive reading, possibly leading to the setup of a very bullish run from here.

EMFP released pretty nice news today.  I took a small position to see if the stock gets a run out of this:

Emergency Filtration Products Enters into Distribution Agreements with Nine International Distributors
Tuesday December 20, 2:42 pm ET

HENDERSON, Nev.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 20, 2005--Emergency Filtration Products Inc. (EFP) (OTCBB: EMFP - News) today announced that it has entered into distribution agreements with nine international distributors operating in the following countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden and Thailand. The company is also at an advanced stage of negotiations to sign additional distributors in a number of other countries.
The international distributors signed to date have agreed to order a minimum of 550,000 NanoMasks and 7,250,000 NanoMask filters over the next two years. The current delivery schedule -- which is based on the company's production capacity -- calls for approximately 225,000 NanoMasks and 3,000,000 NanoMask filters to be delivered in equal allotments over the course of 2006. In 2007, deliveries to these distributors are currently scheduled to reach 325,000 NanoMasks and 4,250,000 NanoMask filters. Following the delivery plan for 2006, deliveries are currently scheduled to be made in equal numbers over the course of the year. These schedules could be either accelerated and/or increased should EFP's production capabilities permit and at the distributors' requests.

"We are well under way to getting our Nogales plant operational in the near future, a development which has enabled us to sign a number of distributors in some important international markets," said Douglas K. Beplate, president and CEO, EFP. "The task before us is to rapidly ramp up production to meet demand for our NanoMask and NanoMask filters, which continues to increase. Towards that end, we regard the Nogales plant to be crucial to the future success of our company. We intend to not only manufacture NanoMasks and NanoMask filters in Nogales, but to also manufacture some, if not all of our other products there as well."

Beplate went on to say, "Our Henderson plant will remain operational as well, although it may be expanded to accommodate a fulfillment and distribution center to better serve our customers. Once our Nogales plant is up and running, we plan to concentrate on winning new business from some large national and international companies who have expressed an interest in our products."

It took a couple of days, but EMFP made a nice little run after the news.  There was an opportunity to buy in the mid .60's after the release, and EMFP hit a high of .87 on Friday.  I no longer hold a position in EMFP -- with my trading style, I am usually happy with a .20 gain (typically, I buy 5,000, 10,000, 20,000 or more shares of a stock, and exit within a day or two of my purchase).
