Thank you! very useful info. One postscript question: some one somewhere said, the t/a show that this stock (BRVO) is going to 60cents.
Based on this limited info., would you know what kind of a chart would provide guidance like that? tia,  Don.

Melf Elf

When stocks go parabolic (a rally straight up, without any consolidating or pattern building), it's anybody's guess how far it will go, or how the rally will end.

How much rally is "too much" for a stock over a 2½ month period?  Well, for BRVO, it wasn't "too much" until it rallied 955% over that period of time.  You definitely don't won't to short stocks that go parabolic. You can get killed in a short squeeze.

Often, stocks that go parabolic like BRVO did experience what's called a "parabolic return."  The stock returns to the price area at which it went parabolic.  In the case of BRVO, that's down around $0.13.

Is there anyway that we can know whether or not BRVO is going to experience a parabolic return to $0.13?  No.  We can't KNOW that.  But, we can look for chart patterns to emerge at the end of the parabolic, measure them, and see if a parabolic return is IN PLAY, meaning "the price that the chart pattern measurement is suggesting."

Here's what the recent Bear Flag pattern suggests.  That doesn't mean that it's going to happen.  It's just what's IN PLAY now, until we see more chart data that might suggest something different.

I appreciate that.  And, you cancelled out one of the smites my post drew.  ;)

I hesitated to make that post, given the popularity of this stock, but smites don't bother me.  If we don't try to give our best read on stocks, be that technical, fundamental, or both, 3 SOF will become the usual  touting, cheerleading, "tell you what you want to hear" internet forum, rather than the quality forum that it is.

BRVO still is walking up the broken flag, finding resistance at the lower rail.  It needs to get back inside the flag to turn from short-term bearish to neutral.

DJ Coca-Cola Reports 52.23% Stake In Bravo Foods Intl ?

25 Jul 17:25

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)--Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. (CCE) on Monday reported
in a regulatory filing that it holds a 52.23% stake in Bravo! Foods
International Corp. (BRVO) through its purchase of stock options from Bravo!'s
shareholders.

On June 13, the Atlanta-based soft-drink company purchased the options to buy
about 68.99 million common shares or common stock equivalents in the form of
convertible securities and warrants from nine shareholders of Bravo!, according
to a Schedule 13D filed Monday with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Coca-Cola Enterprises said the purchase is intended to be a first step in
acquiring slightly more than 50% of Bravo!'s common equity on a fully diluted
basis.

Coca-Cola said it is currently in negotiations over a definitive acquisition
agreement to buy all of the remaining equity securities of Bravo!.

Under the definitive acquisition agreement, Coca-Cola or its assignee would
be given the right, after Dec. 31, 2006, to effect a merger, and the remaining
shares of Bravo! would be converted into the right to receive cash, the filing
said.

As part of the transaction, Coca-Cola is also negotiating with the management
of Bravo! for master distribution rights for Bravo!'s products, and for the
purchase of common stock directly from Bravo!, the filing said.

The filing said the distribution agreement, the definitive acquisition
agreement and the merger agreement are being negotiated, and there is no
assurance that agreement will be reached.

Bravo! Foods produce and distributes branded, shelf-stable, flavored milk
products including Slammers Ultimate Milk and cross-promotional brands with
companies such as Masterfoods and Marvel Comics.

Shares of Bravo! closed Monday at 88 cents each.

What's strange is that it doesn't mention a purchase price.  Anyone have any idea how the market will react to this news from yesterday evening?

Early hours bid up to .93.....could be a great day for BRVO.   :)

Melf Elf - you have a fine chart but no break of bear flag - there may be a bear flag forming now but not a very defined one. A bear flag happens in a downtrending stock and the "flag" soes up oftern in about a 45 degree angle but can of different degrees- anyway your chart has the last 3 candles that may be making a bear flag of sorts but I think not

Melf Elf

Yes, Metro, I should have said Bear Channel.

JUST FOR THE RECORD:

How good are securities analysts? Most are not very good. Today's New York Times has a piece today:

An Analyst Receives a Time Out From Altera

For the 25 years that Tad LaFountain has been a technology stock analyst on Wall Street, he has often written negatively about the strategies or prospects of the companies he followed. Not once did a company retaliate, he said.

Until now.

Mr. LaFountain, who follows 21 semiconductor companies at Wells Fargo Securities in New York, said yesterday that he was dropping coverage of the Altera Corporation, an industry giant, because its executives had told him they would not take his phone calls, would not let him ask questions on analyst conference calls and would no longer give him the information he needed to analyze its business.

Why the cold shoulder? According to Mr. LaFountain, the company objected to his negative opinion on Altera stock. Before he withdrew his coverage, Mr. LaFountain had a sell rating on Altera shares.

Writing his final report on the company yesterday, Mr. LaFountain said he expected to replace Altera in his list of companies with one "that takes a more appropriate view of the role of independent investment research."

Out of the 21 semiconductor companies Mr. LaFountain follows, he has buy ratings on seven, hold ratings on nine and sell ratings on five....

In dropping coverage on Altera, Mr. LaFountain forecast a price target of $14 for the stock. It closed yesterday at $22.45.

Yup. You got it. The stock is way above his target and lately rising.

Melf Elf, thanks for your post, very instructive for me, a learner. How do I get to see the chart everyone is complimenting you on? It doesn't show on my screen. Again, I am a newby, so patience, please.
On the most recent Coke post, what are the SEC or legal rules? How can Coke say they are negotiating with the company to purchase the remainder of the shares and then merge. I understand that you cannot force a merger unless you hold in excess of 90% of the company. All of the insiders shares, oprtions and convertible debt only adds up to +/- 55% Don.
