This penny stock has pretty low liquidity, but I don't have a problem with that, since I will buy only $1,000 of it.

They have other businesses but the speculative part is this on their last Progress Report:

«The Company continues to view the future influenza pandemic -- which has resulted in the death of 150 million birds and 65 humans to date in 11 countries -- with alarm. The Company has contacted international, state and federal authorities on what the Company believes is an inadequate response plan. Vaccine is not available and the expense, inadequate supply and modest benefits of antiviral drugs leave most people completely vulnerable to influenza. Data generated in the former Soviet Union, China, Japan and Bulgaria indicate that low doses of oral or nasal interferon reduce the severity and duration of influenza. In 2006, we are expecting to work with scientists and/or companies in Southeast Asia to test oral interferon in influenza.»

Nothing special but it could be worth at least 20 or 30% when the rest of the people notice it. I will only buy below $0.34.

What percentage of the portfolio is $1,000 at this point? I'd rather you speak of percentages than sums, as we all have different sized portfolios. Thanks! :)

You're right irod, since I sold HYRF.OB $1,000 isn't quite 10% of the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio anymore  ;D The idea is to have 10% of the penny portfolio in each stock, so to be full invested I need to own 10 different penny stocks and that's the limit.

So let me make this clear: «always 10% of the 3 Pennies on Fire Portfolio total capital in each penny stock».

AMAR.OB chart is getting better and people are starting to notice it as a bird flu play. I said the following on my initial recommendation text:

QuoteNothing special but it could be worth at least 20 or 30% when the rest of the people notice it. I will only buy below $0.34.

3 days later I have 25% in profits. Now the question is hold or sell? I went on reading some more information and found out the company doesn't expect any sales of its products until 2010. So it  isn't ready for bird flu at this point. Therefore I'll sell the stock today, taking my expected profit.

I didn't see the sell of AMAR from the portfolio, so I held.  Luckily, it had a pretty good day.  :)  Will probably sell-tomorrow, if nothing happens.

Amarillo Biosciences Issues Letter to Shareholders Addressing Interferon and Swine Flu Outbreak
On Monday April 27, 2009, 2:07 pm EDT

AMARILLO, TX--(MARKET WIRE)--Apr 27, 2009 -- Amarillo Biosciences, Inc. (AMAR) (OTC BB:AMAR.OB - News) today announced that it has issued the following Letter to Shareholders addressing oral interferon and the recent swine flu outbreak. This information is being sent to governments, influenza experts and other individuals because of the urgency of the present influenza outbreaks in Mexico, Canada, New Zealand and the United States.

Dear Shareholder,

In 1957 two scientists in England noted a substance in chicken embryos that was "interfering" with the growth of influenza virus. The scientists isolated the protein and called it "interferon." In other words, it has been known for 52 years that interferon blocks influenza virus. We have prepared a more technical summary of a portion of the data that shows that interferon prevents or effectively treats influenza in ferrets, mice, guinea pigs and humans: (http://amarbio.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=22&Itemid=44).

There is additional animal data presently being generated by a colleague in Germany, and Dr. Manfred Beilharz (the principal investigator of our ongoing interferon flu study in Australia) and I both believe that the existing animal and human data should motivate national and international health authorities to consider low dose oral interferon for the prevention and treatment of influenza.

Because of the current influenza outbreak, it is important that health officials recognize that oral interferon represents an inexpensive, non-toxic, easy-to-administer oral therapy for flu. Our interferon lozenges are stable at room temperature for up to 2 years so the therapy lends itself to the healthcare needs of the developing world where refrigeration may not be readily available.

The government approved anti-viral drugs are not a long term solution because the influenza virus has the capability of rapidly developing resistance to the drugs according to JAMA, Vol. 301, No. 10, Pages 1034-1041, May 2009. Because interferon acts indirectly by boosting the immune system, influenza viruses have not developed resistance to interferon, but instead have developed strategies to shut host cell production of interferon. Therefore, treating with extra interferon to overcome the viral strategy makes scientific sense.

Interferon is a protein produced naturally in mammals, fish, birds, reptiles and amphibians. Interferon helps regulate the immune system of all animals. Interferon is not a miracle drug but instead interferon can boost the body's natural immune system. Properly used, interferon can help the immune system to perform more efficiently.

The clinical data from our flu study in Australia will be available this fall. Based on our previous work with cattle, there is every reason to believe that oral interferon lozenges will be successful at preventing and lessening the severity of influenza infection in the study's volunteers. We need to make plans now for a follow-up flu study in the U.S., rather than waiting for the final data from Australia.

We are working diligently to launch an interferon flu study in the U.S. The brewing swine flu outbreak is motivating health officials to examine every possible weapon against an international flu pandemic; we are hopeful that this will include a thorough study of oral interferon which will prove that it is a safe and effective treatment.

Yours sincerely,
Dr. Joseph Cummins,
President and CEO Amarillo Biosciences, Inc.

Building a Base
AMAR has accumulated several big names on it's board and is now building a solid base before making a price move.
AMAR has done and is doing extensive trials using Interferon in small doses to combat several diseases including the bird 'flu virus. They have received major $ support of their work from a large Japanese Company.

Ascending Triangle (Continuation) Pattern...
The ascending triangle is a bullish formation that usually forms during an uptrend as a continuation pattern. There are instances when ascending triangles form as reversal patterns at the end of a downtrend, but they are typically continuation patterns. Regardless of where they form, ascending triangles are bullish patterns that indicate accumulation.

Because of its shape, the pattern can also be referred to as a right-angle triangle. Two or more equal highs form a horizontal line at the top. Two or more rising troughs form an ascending trend line that converges on the horizontal line as it rises. If both lines were extended right, the ascending trend line could act as the hypotenuse of a right triangle. If a perpendicular line were drawn extending down from the left end of the horizontal line, a right triangle would form.

In contrast to the symmetrical triangle, an ascending triangle has a definitive bullish bias before the actual breakout. If you will recall, the symmetrical triangle is a neutral formation that relies on the impending breakout to dictate the direction of the next move. On the ascending triangle, the horizontal line represents overhead supply that prevents the security from moving past a certain level. It is as if a large sell order has been placed at this level and it is taking a number of weeks or months to execute, thus preventing the price from rising further. Even though the price cannot rise past this level, the reaction lows continue to rise. It is these higher lows that indicate increased buying pressure and give the ascending triangle its bullish bias.
