Alister,

I think CRAY has well-structured, beautiful looking chart.

The 1.98 gap got filled during the current Bull Flag formation.  The top of the Bull Flag on Friday, March 3 was 2.147.  The high on the day was 2.14, then CRAY backed off into the close.  That's the third hit to that trendline, validating it.

Volume was a little weak on last week's rally off the bottom of the Bull Flag, so we could "walk down the flag" some more next week.  I'd like to see volume come in on a breakout.

If the Bull Flag gets taken out to the upside, 2.54 and 2.77 will be IN PLAY.
2.75 was the reaction high in April, after the gap down in March.

I got back in yesterday. It was a quiet week for CRAY. Hoping for some heat next week.

uc,

CRAY might "walk down" the Bull Flag some next week, but the overall chart looks good.

In January, John D. Markman at the Street.com picked CRAY as one of his "10 Hot Techs that aren't Apple or Google."  Markman seems to have a good read on fundamentals.

His picks are doing well, some of which were JDSU, PMCS, STX, BCOM, BWNG (had a nice gap higher on Friday).

Here are his comments on CRAY:

"If you want to look for some upside in a cheap tech stock on the move, check out Cray (CRAY:Nasdaq - news - research - Cramer's Take), the nation's leading supercomputer maker. The company -- which has disappointed optimists repeatedly in the past -- last week lifted its revenue estimates for 2005 and 2006 by as much as 32% because of new commitments by customers on three continents, including the Korea Meteorological Administration, the Swiss National Supercomputing Center and our very own Oak Ridge Labs. Earnings will follow, and the company is likely to emerge from a string of annual losses by 2007.

The problem is that supercomputing is not exactly a growth industry, and at home it is held hostage to a Pentagon budget that's straining just to turn on the lights. If you buy now, you might have to wait a while for action, but there's $46 million in cash that acts as a safety net, and the upside could approach $2.50 to $4 in two years, or as much as a double or better from here . The recent range is wide: It sold for 85 cents a share a few months ago and as much as $14 in 2003."

The high end of his target ties in nicely with the chart.  If CRAY can take out 2.54 (see my chart above), that will put about 4.25 IN PLAY, depending on the point of the breakout.  If we get there, that's a 101% gain from Friday's close of 2.11.

Good luck, uc!
