Thought id join in on this board since i love momo! Got something that looks interesting as well. ALT......somethin could be brewin.

Something to speculate on:

Released on 6/09/05: stock tanked

PARSIPPANY, N.J., June 9, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Alteon Inc. (ALT) announced today it will discontinue the SPECTRA trial, a Phase 2b clinical trial for alagebrium, following an interim evaluation of data indicating that the drug has not demonstrated efficacy against uncontrolled systolic hypertension. While the drug has been observed to be safe and well-tolerated in clinical trials to date, the independent efficacy review committee conducting the interim analysis of SPECTRA found that the data did not indicate a treatment effect of alagebrium against systolic hypertension and that there was a low probability of meeting clinical endpoints by the planned conclusion of the study.

Released 9/30/05......... ya ya ya we get it

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Sept 30, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Alteon Inc. (ALT) announced today that it has been notified by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration's (FDA) Reproductive and Urologic Drug Products Division that it is maintaining the clinical hold previously placed on the Company's Phase 2a study of alagebrium in diabetic patients with erectile dysfunction.

Released today 11/15/05......The low probability Alagebrium is working? yup! (MOMO ;D)

Alagebrium Demonstrates Important Cardiac Benefits in Diastolic Dysfunction and Endothelial Function Studies
- PEDESTAL and Endothelial Function Data Presented at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions 2005 -
11/15/2005 11:35:55 AM

PARSIPPANY, N.J., Nov 15, 2005 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Alteon Inc. (ALT) announced today that data demonstrating the ability of its lead A.G.E. Crosslink Breaker alagebrium to improve overall cardiac function are being presented today at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions in Dallas, TX, by two independent research teams. Data presented from the Phase 2a PEDESTAL trial in diastolic dysfunction demonstrated the ability of alagebrium to improve measures of diastolic function, including a significant reduction in left ventricular mass. A second Phase 2a study found the compound to significantly improve endothelial function. Both studies point to the importance of the continued development of alagebrium and A.G.E. Crosslink Breakers as a novel class of compounds that may help reduce cardiovascular risk.

The poster presentation "Improvements in Diastolic Function Among Patients with Advanced Systolic Heart Failure Utilizing Alagebrium, an Oral Advanced Glycation End-product Crosslink Breaker" describes the key findings from Alteon's diastolic dysfunction trial, known as PEDESTAL (Patients with Impaired Ejection Fraction and Diastolic Dysfunction: Efficacy and Safety Trial of Alagebrium). Twenty-two patients were treated in an open-label two dose (35 mg and 210 mg bid) regiment and followed by echocardiography. The data revealed absolute improvements from a combined analysis of both dose groups in Doppler measures of diastolic function, including the early/late (E/A) atrial filling phase ratio (3.3+/-1.4vs. 2.6+/-1.4) (p=0.18), deceleration time (DT) (148+/-33 vs. 188+/-60), (p=0.04), isovolumetric relaxation time (IVRT) (88+/-11.9 vs. 113.1+/-31) (p=0.04) and concomitant reduction of left atrial pressure (25.0+/-8 vs. 19+/-8) (p=0.11). In addition, regression of left ventricular mass (g) (297+/-57 vs. 246.+/-51) (p=0.002) and left ventricular end-diastolic volume (ml) (297+/-57 vs. 246+/- 51) was achieved.

Author Vinay Thohan, M.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine, Methodist DeBakey Heart Center, Houston, TX, concluded, "Alagebrium had important benefits among patients with systolic heart failure and diastolic dysfunction. These benefits included improved measures of diastolic function, hemodynamics and cardiac remodeling. Future investigations aimed at evaluating the expected clinical improvements are warranted."

In the study, "Improved Flow-Mediated Arterial Vasodilation by Advanced Glycation Crosslink Breaker, Alagebrium Chloride (ALT-711), in Older Adults with Isolated Systolic Hypertension," conducted at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine under grants from the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the Society of Geriatric Cardiology, 13 adults with isolated systolic hypertension on stable antihypertensive therapy received a 2-week placebo run-in followed by 8 weeks of oral alagebrium (210 mg bid). Data measurements were taken after placebo run-in and after 8 weeks of therapy. Treatment with alagebrium reduced carotid augmentation index (AI), a measure of arterial stiffness, by 37% (0.3+/-0.04 to 0.2+/-0.05, p=0.007) and carotid augmented pressure from 16.4+/-10 to 9.6+/-9 mmHg (p<0.001), whereas pulse wave velocity (PWV) was unaltered. Thus, overall arterial stiffening, as reflected by AI, was markedly reduced by alagebrium therapy. Heart rate, brachial arterial pressures and brachial artery distensibility measures were unaltered by alagebrium therapy. However, alagebrium significantly improved flow-mediated dilation, a measure of endothelial function, by 102% (4.6+/-1.1% to 7.1+/-1.1%, p<0.05). Alagebrium therapy improved peripheral artery endothelial function, independent of changing local arterial distensibility, suggesting a new mechanism through which alagebrium may act on A.G.E.s which directly impair dynamic vascular function in addition to its apparent effect on A.G.E.s impacting the structural aspects of arteries.

Author Susan Zieman, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine, Johns Hopkins University, noted that "these data support two potentially separate and novel mechanisms for a vascular benefit that may help lower cardiovascular risk in older adults: a decrease in overall arterial stiffening and an improvement in endothelial function. This is particularly exciting as both arterial stiffness and endothelial dysfunction are risks for cardiovascular disease."

This stock has been tanking for some time now. Maybe this all time low of .18 is the end of it........

Price action formed a nice looking descending triangle with an upside breakout today on heavy  volume. Profit target of the triangle breakout is .66 making this an attractive pick based on the risk reward ratio.

Target .66......stop loss-close below .18

Let me know what ya'll think  :D

trade it like you mean it!

ALT...momo news looks good to me...upside potential with low downside risk. I agree with this too. ;D

do you think ALT will be a short term trade..or is it something we may have to hold? There was a nice increase in pps yesterday...will there be a pullback today?

Considering getting in this a.m

Julia...you can't really call a trade duration...drug phase news momo plays can last from one day to several months, depending on all the variables. Right now it is bidding up a little which indicates potential follow through for day two.Chart looks like a little resistance around 30 cents, but from there to 50's it's open after the recent one day fall. Looks good for a potential good day right now. But if your buying, I'm watching.  ;D Just kidding.  ;D I would probably be buying w/settled funds...I'd see how the open goes though.  ;D

Reuters
Roche settles dispute with Gilead
Wednesday November 16, 6:24 am ET
By Tom Armitage

ZURICH (Reuters) - The main producer of Tamiflu, the drug thought to be the best defense against a possible flu pandemic caused by bird flu, has settled a dispute with the drug's inventor over production and royalties, the companies said on Wednesday.

Governments have been seeking to stockpile the drug as a precaution against the possible outbreak of a human variant of avian flu but drug maker Roche Holding AG (ROG.VX) has come under pressure over concerns production could fall short.

Under Wednesday's deal the drug's inventor Gilead Sciences Inc (NasdaqNM:GILD - News) will get a greater say in plans to increase production of the drug by farming out parts of the process to third-party producers such as generic drug makers.

Gilead's share of the royalties from Tamiflu sales, which are expected to reach over $1 billion due to government orders, will remain unchanged, although it will no longer have to shoulder the burden of certain manufacturing costs.

"The money is not a great deal," said Claude Zehnder, market analyst at Swiss bank ZKB said. "But it is certainly a good thing that they have agreed this amicably."

The settlement also involves Roche paying the U.S. firm around $62.5 million in reimbursements for so-called cost of goods adjustments backdated to the start of 2004.

Investors in the Swiss drugmaker had feared that the dispute, which broke out in June, could weigh on the firm's shares or scupper Tamiflu sales.

Roche's participation certificates were 0.4 percent higher at 194.40 Swiss francs by 0806 GMT, in a flat Swiss market.

Gilead threatened in June to end a deal signed in 1996 under which Roche got an exclusive license to manufacture and sell the antiviral drug worldwide.

The U.S. firm claimed Roche had failed to market the drug properly, particularly in the United States, and had not launched the drug as a treatment for seasonal flu in other countries.

If Gilead had won, all rights to the drug would have reverted back to the U.S. firm.

Roche has come under pressure from governments around the world to increase its production capacity for the treatment and said last month that it would consider allowing other parties, such as generic drugmakers, to produce the remedy.

Gilead will also have a greater say in selling Tamiflu as a seasonal flu treatment and will have the option to co-promote the drug in specialized areas in the United States. However, it will not co-promote the drug in 2006, it said.

Roche said that Gilead's royalties would remain unchanged, with the U.S. firm receiving a cut of between 14 and 22 percent based on Roche's annual net sales of the drug.

This would work out at 18 to 19 percent for 2005, the firms said. Roche has already sold 859 million Swiss francs worth of Tamiflu in the first nine months of 2005.

Roche will pay Gilead the $62.5 million in royalty reimbursements and has said that the U.S. firm could keep $18.2 million which Roche had paid in protest over a dispute on royalty calculations for sales in 2001 to 2003.

Press Release Source: Roaming Messenger

Roaming Messenger Demonstrates Homeland Security ''Killer App'' at Emergency Management Conference
Tuesday November 15, 4:05 pm ET
The Company Addresses the Communication Interoperability Challenge Posed by Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Michael Chertoff

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 15, 2005--Roaming Messenger (OTCBB:RMSG - News), the provider of a breakthrough mobile messaging platform, today demonstrated its interoperability features from the show floor at the International Association of Emergency Management (IAEM) Annual Conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
Roaming Messenger was recently referred to as the "Killer App" for homeland security by nationally recognized strategist, David Stephenson, in his daily homeland security publication. Citing Roaming Messenger's smart messaging capability and interoperability across multiple devices and networks, Mr. Stephenson believes that Roaming Messenger's technology combines the necessary features and functions to make it the standard bearer for emergency communications in the post-Katrina world. Roaming Messenger possesses a unique ability to provide interoperable communication for federal, state and local emergency management systems over different networks and carriers, and across a variety of devices including desktop, laptop, cell phones and PDAs.

Michael Chertoff, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, calls communication interoperability the biggest challenge in recent hurricane response efforts. Addressing this challenge, Roaming Messenger demonstrated a hurricane response scenario at the Interoperability Pavilion. The following summarizes the company's successful simulation:

The National Hurricane Center warns of a Category 4 hurricane to hit Southeastern Florida, and sends messages to state and local Emergency Operation Centers ("EOC") running emergency management systems from leading providers NC4, ESS and MyStateUSA
EOC issues evacuation orders to field resources through RMSG which sends interactive messengers to BlackBerrys, smart phones, and desktops, delivering information and gathering responses
When the hurricane hits, fallen trees and debris block roadways leaving many communities isolated
Public Works needs heavy equipment to unblock roadways
Because of looting, the County EOC, running MyStateUSA, calls in the National Guard
Florida EOC, running Oracle, sends request to FEMA for tent cities as shelters become full
FEMA sends resource requests through RMSG to field personnel to assemble and deliver requested resources
All this is happening in real-time!
Concurrently in two other demonstration scenarios, explosion and pandemic flu, RMSG is similarly being used as a central gateway for delivering interactive time-critical information to various devices achieving mobile interoperability
Jon Lei, Roaming Messenger's CEO stated, "We are honored by the invitation to co-sponsor the Interoperability Pavilion with COMCARE and are excited to demonstrate our technology at such a high profiled event. It's taken us a long time to be recognized by the industry. Now, I believe that we have finally arrived!"

Mr. Lei commented further, "The world we live in has become increasingly more dangerous and we must use new and better technology to overcome and respond to these new threats. It's unfortunate that it took major disasters to put information technology investment on the front burner for governments and corporations worldwide. The return-on-investment in technology that saves lives and preserves assets is priceless. We are glad to be playing a major part in the value chain - that part is interoperable mobile communication!"

Its very very quiet here today...is everyone sleeping :)

Well...i went crazy today and bought a bunch of stuff..that i'm already losing at...only 2 i think were good.

UVIH...played that again today..and again..i sold way way too early..bought at .2..sold at .3...but, hit .5...and ask jumped to $1! Well..that may be a little bit much..but, i may play it again tomorrow..Its very slow moving stock..but,its got heart! ;D

CXTI..hoping that will continue tomorrow...good news., good vol. and a large after hours buy and 2.085 x 86k shares...and closed at 2.01!

IMTR, bought that too early in the a.m when it was moving up...then slowly dropped alot thru out the day...so may have to hold that awhile...hopefully it will regain some soon!

Then there is another one...NSEO...slow mover too..accidentaly bought like 250 shares!! cost me about 22$ and my commision is $25...ya...good move julia! But, it is starting to move up again....maybe i will add to what i have..its interesting..hmmmm..

Anywya..so, pretty much in the red again today...oh ya..i bought oxfv when the good news came out...then it started to drop...then after the bell...news of r/s split came out...well..i guess i can right that off completely...i'm so sick of these r/s that come out...and usually after a nice news release...some people should be going to jail for stuff like this...its revolting...really  makes me sick >:(

ok..sorry..had to vent there...but, hope everybody had a good day ;D

QMMG ready to bounce. Is it going to close the gap from october 25? I think so..then up from here soon

Julia...why is UVIH going up? I saw IMTR take off and figured it would drop again...had about an 80% swing today up and down. OXFV may be the exception to the R/S...we'll see. ;D I was busy...didn't do anything....and neither did the stocks I'm holding. ;D

KET...you would have difficulty finding gold/silver stocks that didn't go higher today. Gold was up about $10, and silve went over $8 an ounce....inflation and interest rate fears and as long that continues, so will gold/silver/metals/mining. So, OMMG will ride that tide with the others as long as it lasts.  ;) ;D

runforthedoor

Just took a look around and so far R/S for OXFV is being taken as bad news....whether that will change before morning, who knows....but most R/S's in pennyland are the road to dilution and bad news for shareholders...so people RFTD when they see them. At this point, that's what it looks like will happen to OXFV tommorrow...but time will tell.  ;D

gmarc66

Hey RFTD :)

Yes...r/s never seem to be a good thing...so iknow tomorrow will be a bad day for OXFV's pps...i just picked the wrong time to jump back in...i had several opportunties before to play its ups and downs...and as usual..my timing is terrible :)

As for UVIH, i'm assuming its because of the 10K released this tuesday:

http://ca.us.biz.yahoo.com/e/051115/uvih.ob10qsb.html

thanks! ;D

I got the quote from the RagingBull board....but the reverse merger of OXFV into a pharma company and potential move to a big board has been in the works for awhile...and sometimes an R/S is needed to meet PPS requirements....I'm not positive if that is what is truly going on here, but have just read some things somewhere to that affect. So I'm not passing judgement on this R/S yet...until I see and know the whole story. Hopefully, for your sake, this R/S will be for the good. I'll look around in the morning and if I find any good info on it, I'll post it.  ;D

Must have been something good in that 10K of UVIH. ;)

Had a retracement pullback today, though i believe it was well needed. I think there was a lot of people that were holding from before and saw an opportunity to get out while they can. So we dont want those anxious sellers here anyways  ;). We want new buyers coming in looking to make some cash.

I had a limit order in at .20 today though it failed to go through. I'll be thinking about making another attempt to hop in tomorrow.

If this one drops below the all time low of .18. I'll forget ALT even existed  :D

Good luck everyone.

Anyone pick any of this up today?

  Julia....read this post...OXFV may be interesting. ;D

http://ragingbull.lycos.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=OXFV&read=4396

fousc....ALT...I watched it...slow start at .25/.26....very little volume at first and then when volume finally kicked in it was a steady trickle down to .21/.22, and then volume finally died there. While the news is the usual good drug phase momo stuff....I'm wondering....the stock has been on a decade long downtrend it seems....I wonder if their credibility is suspect...if maybe they have had these phase announcements many times along the way with no good end results or something. It's possible that it was a one day momo play for some reason I guess and I'm just speculating as I don't know the stock history. I don't think anyone here got in. It will be interesting to see if any good up volume returns tommorrow....if so, it may be a good play yet. ;D

gmarc66

Appreciate the link for OXFV RFTD...thanks! ;D

Fousc..i watched ALT too...i also had a small order in at .20..didn't get either. Will keep on watch.

thanks
