ALTI     Has a great up side potential, its in the hot energy sector ( i was always faniciated with hydrogen energy espically now with oil prices gettiing close to hydrogen production prices ) and just broke two long decending trend lines with some white candles. Here are a few charts.

Altairnano to Receive $750,000 for Development of Solar Hydrogen Generation Cells

Altair Nanotechnologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ALTI), in collaboration with the University of Nevada Las Vegas Research Foundation (UNLVRF), today announced the consortium has received a $2.5 million Phase III grant award from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the joint development of solar hydrogen generation cells. Under the terms of the multi-year grant, Altairnano will receive $750,000 for collaborative research and development efforts through its subcontractor agreement with UNLVRF beginning October 1, 2005, and continuing through December 2006.

"This grant award is timely as the rapid development of alternative energy sources is more necessary than ever for the U.S.," commented Altair Nanotechnologies Chief Executive Officer and President, Alan J. Gotcher, Ph.D. "The consortium's two-pronged approach, which supports the National Hydrogen Fuel Initiative, is the joint development of a cell for direct hydrogen production from sunlight and water, along with related vehicle refilling stations. We expect this approach to accelerate the commercialization of alternative energy vehicles and resource utilization throughout the state of Nevada and, in due course, the United States."

Under the terms of the grant, UNLVRF, a non-profit affiliate of UNLV, will lead a team of industrial and technology partners to spearhead multiple research and development projects to drive production and commercialization of solar technology-based hydrogen projects.

CKCM: Click Commerce Inc.

The fundamental reason to suggest this stock is strong earnings growth:

"Total third quarter 2005 revenues were $16.2 million, representing a 130% growth over third quarter 2004 revenue of $7.0 million. On a non-GAAP basis, excluding certain charges as described below, net income was $4.9 million, or $0.40 per share on a diluted basis. This represents an improvement of approximately $3.3 million over Q3 2004's non-GAAP net income of $1.6 million, an increase of 200%. On a GAAP basis, net income was $3.8 million, or $0.31 per share, an improvement of approximately $2.4 million over the third quarter of 2004's net income of $1.4 million, an increase of 176%. The Company's third quarter results represent its ninth consecutive profitable quarter, with a non-GAAP profit margin of 30% in the third quarter. GAAP profit margins were 23% in the third quarter."

I have highlighted triple digit numbers to show that things are very strong on the earning side.

The stock also fits in the general pattern of year end rally. A tech stock with good earnings and still not trading at ultar high earnings multiples. The two factors make it a realtively safer bet.

Technically stock gapped up a lot after earnings on a huge volume. I expect the gap will remain unfilled. And the bullish trend to continue.

Hi All,
My Pick is HPQ.
Recently after looking into the tech market bigwigs and AMD, INTC, IBM earnings and Dell warning, I think HPQ is good technology buy for next 2-3 weeks for 10 - 20% gain from its current levels. Stock is near its 1 year highs. Management has also done remarkable job in turning around the company. They have been successful in the printer market. The company is doing every thing correct for giving spectacular results.

1)  My pick is Hemispherx Biopharmaceutical (Amex: HEB)

2)  The reason for my pick is that I believe the Avian Bird Flu scare is going to be with us throughout the winter, and certainly at least through the next month.  As detailed below, HEB is uniquely positioned to offer a solution that increases the effectiveness of both Tamiflu and Relenza, and, more importantly, drastically reduce the dosage required for each drug to be effective.

HEB's Ampligen, a drug that has completed phase III testing for the treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, has been shown in recent studies to be very effective when used as an adjuvant with both Tamiflu and Relenza:

Ampligen(R) Studies on Combinational Treatments Against Avian Influenza are Extended
Wednesday October 26, 10:22 am ET
Tamiflu Resistant Strains are Reported in Asia

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 26, 2005--Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (AMEX: HEB - News) has extended a preclinical report conducted by research affiliates of the National Institutes of Health at Utah State University to examine potential therapeutic synergies with more than 10 different drug combinations. The ongoing research is comparing the relative protection conveyed by Tamiflu (oseltamivir, Roche) and Ampligen® (dsRNA, Hemispherx), alone and in combination, against the avian flu virus (H5N1).
True therapeutic synergy is defined by mathematical equations which indicate that the therapeutic effect observed is in fact greater than the expected arithmetic sum of the two drugs working independently, and is referred to by pharmacologists as the "Chou/Talalay" equations developed at Johns Hopkins University. True therapeutic synergy has now been observed in the interaction between Ampligen® and Tamiflu in the inhibition of the Avian influenza virus.

Hemispherx recently reported new data on preclinical studies on double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), including Ampligen®, one of its flagship experimental immunomodulators. These studies suggest a new, and potentially pivotal, role of dsRNA therapeutics in improving the efficacy of the present standards of care in both influenza prevention and treatment of acute disease.

The studies are attracting growing attention with the persistence of H5N1 avian influenza viruses in many Asian countries and their ability to cause fatal infections in humans. Concerns throughout the Region have risen with the discovery of a Tamiflu resistant strain of the virus. NATURE (14 October 2005), a respected science journal, reported that on February 27, 2005 an H5N1 influenza virus, A/Hanoi/30408/2005, was isolated from a 14 year old Vietnamese girl (patient 1) who had received a prophylactic dose of Tamiflu (oseltamivir). Although further investigation is needed, analysis of the isolated virus revealed two disturbing possibilities; that the virus could have been transmitted to the girl from her brother and that the virus was developing a resistance to Tamiflu. Although the findings were based on a single patient, the authors, in their conclusion, recommend the stockpiling of alternatives to Tamiflu. Hemispherx's Ampligen® is emerging as one of the more promising experimental alternatives.

In antimicrobial (antibacterial) therapy, which is the best studied clinical model, synergistic drug combinations may result in curative conditions/outcomes, often not observed when the single drugs are given alone. In the case of avian influenza where global drug supplies are presumptively in very limited supply relative to potential needs, therapeutic synergistic combinations could not only affect the disease outcome, but also the number of individuals able to access therapies. Cell destruction was measured in vitro using different drug combinations.

At present, a narrow window of opportunity (approximately 48 hours) exists for effective utilization of Tamiflu after exposure to influenza. By providing a new mechanism of inhibition of avian flu, (i.e. immunologic/host defensive immune cascades), Ampligen®, an experimental immunotherapeutic, may also afford a new time interval to help combat the influenza virus.

Recently, double-stranded RNA (dsRNA), such as Ampligen®, are also specific inducers of broad-spectrum antiviral/immune response. As noted in the Company's announcement of September 6, 2005, Japanese researchers have also found that dsRNAs increase the effectiveness of influenza vaccine by more than 300% and may also convey "cross-protection ability against variant viruses" (mutated strains of influenza virus).

Hemispherx Biopharma recently disclosed they entered into a collaboration with HollisterStier Laboratories of Spokane, Washington, for the contract manufacturing of Hemispherx's experimental drug, Ampligen®. The achievement of the initial objectives, in combination with the Polymer production facility under construction in New Brunswick, N.J., will enable Hemispherx to significantly increase production capacity.

Ampligen® also recently completed Phase III testing in the chronic disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS).

Most recently, the company reported on the results of using Ampligen as an adjuvant with Relenza:

Studies Continue to Highlight Hemispherx's Ampligen(R) as Broadly Effective Adjuvant to Avian Influenza Treatments
Thursday November 3, 8:30 am ET
Ampligen(R) Demonstrates Strong Therapeutic Synergy with Relenza(R)

PHILADELPHIA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 2005--Hemispherx Biopharma, Inc. (AMEX: HEB - News) announces that the NIH supported independent study at the Utah State University has recently completed research that shows Ampligen®, a Hemispherx experimental immunomodulator, demonstrates strong therapeutic synergy with Relenza® (Zanamivir).
In the study, researchers analyzed the effect of a combination of Ampligen® and Zanamivir on an influenza H5N1 infection in MDCK cells as determined by a cytopathic effect inhibition assay. Zanamivir had zero inhibitory activity when given alone (0.0032 microgram per milliliter) against the avian flu virus, however when co-administered with very low doses of Ampligen® (1 microgram per milliliter) it was shown to be 100% inhibitory.

With the threat of an avian influenza pandemic rising and health officials warning that the virus could develop resistance to current flu treatments, the pursuit of a cost-effective and capable adjuvant to existing antivirals and vaccines has become critical. This combination may permit the use of lower dosages and fewer injections of the antivirals and vaccines used to combat avian flu, thereby decreasing the cost of both immunization programs and treatment programs for the full-blown disease.

In antimicrobial (antibacterial) therapy, which is the best-studied clinical model, synergistic drug combinations may result in curative conditions/outcomes, often not observed when the single drugs are given alone. In the case of avian influenza where global drug supplies are presumptively in very limited supply relative to potential needs, therapeutic synergistic combinations could not only affect the disease outcome, but also the number of individuals able to access therapies. In a recently reported study from a vaccine group in Japan, the incorporation of poly I: poly C (dsRNA) into a nasal administration of a killed influenza A preparation converted a poorly immunogenic response into a highly efficacious vaccine in protection of mice from lethal infection from human influenza A.

In addition to the potential for use of Ampligen as an adjuvant for Avian Flu treatment, investors are anticipating news that the company is requesting the fast tracking of Ampligen's approval for treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.  Any positive news on this front should send the stock much higher.

Now, I realize that the stock has had a great run over the past month, but with the Avian Flu continuing to spread, and with news regarding the fast tracking of Ampligen for treatment of CFS, this stock still has the potential for an extended run.

3)  Here is a chart of HEB:

yzi96

1) Able Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: ABLE)
2) I perfer energy stock in this period. The reason behind is energy price already stable for almost one month around $60/per barrel, I don't think oil price will go down further in the next couple of week. so far there is still 30%-40% refinery in Gulf Of Mexico shutting-off. Consumer will get bigger bill for their heating, cooking and driving. Able Energy is tiny company operating in NJ. He serve and distribute heating oil, biodiesel. last Q company report record sales of $13.1 million, a 59.8% increase over the same period of 2004. This is not bad for a market cap only 24 million company. and stock price drop 50% more from peak 23 along with energy price decline. stock already stable almost one month. it will head north with winter coming, I believe.
3) from point of TA, it is forming triple bottom, and aim to break out resistance @11 (50ma), as chart indicator. if break out happend, first target will be 15. now volume is picking up in the past few days.

My my stock pick is QLTI. It is currently priced at 7.20. Based on cash and fundamentals the company is very undervalued.  It has suffered recently on concerns of competition, but should rebound nicely in the coming months.

Good luck to all!

My Pick - SINOVAC BIOTECH LTD. (SVA)

Reasons -

1.) Fundamental reasons:

a.) Basically, most people think this is a bird flu play, but these guys (they are a relatively new biotech company based out of Beijing, China) have 3 commerically avaialble vaccines to treat hepatitis and human influenza. They have a SARS vaccines that has passed the preclinical trial stage and is currently in clinical trials, and mind you, this is the ONLY company that is even developing a SARS vaccine...

http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/051027/275490.html?.v=1

b.) The have the backing of the Chinese govt. who have placed enough trust in them to actually fund the entire R&D phase of the development of the human bird flu vaccine...many people do not know that because of a poorly placed PR (which combined this news along with some news about a UBS presentation) when it was released on Sept. 20

http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/050920/205626.html?.v=1

c.) more importantly, the source of this most recent bird flu problem is int the Asian region (China, S>E Asia)...and this company is extremely well placed and well backed (by the Chinese CDC and SFDA and the govt.) to pursue aggresively the development of the vaccine.

d.) Also, their revenues are in a agrowing trend and will kick into high gear next year and onwards with the recent commerical approval of the Anflu human influenza vaccine.

2.) Technical reasons:

a.) The stock has had a good run this past month or so just like many other stocks in the bird flu sector...but right now, it has pulled back well and successfully tested the 50 DMA...this coming week will show us if the right side of the base (resuming uptrend) will happen or not, but my best bet is, it will. the stochastics show extrmely oversold and is ripe for a move back up. Also, another tech. indicator I follow is the Ultimate oscillator...which is once again at the 30 level, and the last time it was there was when the big move up commenced.
One other thing...the highest this stock has ever closed historically was in the $6.50 range (back in March 2004)...this past month or so, it has tested that range once again...and is kinda facing some resistance in that zone...once it breaks that 6-6.50 range and closes above that, we are in for some fireworks with no real upside resistance after that...with all the news about china, bird flu, and flu vaccines in general, I am willing to bet this stock is primed to go higher in the next 1 month and beyond.

3.) Here's a chart (5 month and 2 year) by the way:

good luck!

Long term investments are short-term investments that have gone wrong.

My pick:

MEMY - also previous 3SOF pick,  yeah I know it's not original but my only original idea that I have faith in is on the OTCC  ,  (RFDL.pk , My favorite long and short term stock)  anyways im getting off the subject.

Sector - Pharma

Reasons,

1)

In September 2005, Memory Pharmaceuticals completed dosing in a single center, randomized, double-blind, placebo controlled safety and tolerability study of MEM 1003 in 81 Alzheimer's patients. The Company has also completed a Phase 1 clinical trial in 125 healthy volunteers in the United Kingdom to evaluate the potential cardiovascular impact and side effect profile produced by single and multiple doses of MEM 1003. The Company plans to announce results from the safety and tolerability study during the fourth quarter of 2005.

This seems to compare favorably with the timelines of the contest

2) Insider buying - always a good sign

3) I like the concept of a successful Alzheimer's (sp?) drug for the aging baby boomers

4) not as volatile to give back gains made before Dec 7th , since there haven't been any lately and their might not be since the Phase 2 timeline is not completely defined this is of coerce my opinion but I feel the chart supports this.

this is the first time I have posted a chart here I  hope it shows up

My pick for the contest is SYNC.  I am a technical trader so I do not follow fundamentals.  If you look at a 2 year chart you have a cupN handle pattern here, with the base of the cup at 2.50 and the handle hanging out in the 4.50-4.75 area.  I am looking for the stock to break the handle in the next month and proceed to my $6.50 target area.  The stock has moved up in the past on good volume and decreased in price on low volume. It recently came back and tested the 50 day, and bounced off of it to the upside nicely.  Note that the first retracement on the handle was to the 4.00 area, while the last one was to the 4.30 area, so we are losing strength on the pullbacks and preparing for the real launch from the handle.

Not sure on how to post the chart here, but you can find it at:

2 Has hit multi year lows and started it's trend back up. Volume shows accumulation, recent support in the uptrend. Mostly a technical pick, but I think that the company shows some positives on the firm foundation side - I think the IT industry will only go up from where it stands now in the US.
