looking good today. looking for a cypb-style move. Bought 9.6k shares at 3.11 this morning and expect it to hit 4.5$ easily in 2 weeks. Tomorrow is also one month after the fall (possible wash rule buyback bounce). Todays action looked really bullish, trading at 3.30 ah.

plus news on the nicotine vaccine came out today, and although I can't find it on webmd yet, there is a very bullish article that came out from there.

NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Research with a new nicotine vaccine shows that the vaccine is safe and well tolerated, with higher doses producing a greater rate of abstinence.

"We were pleased to see that because that indicates this vaccine does indeed have a significant impact on smoking behavior," Dr. Dorothy K. Hatsukami of the Tobacco Use Research Center in Minneapolis told Reuters Health. The finding of increased abstinence, she added, was "surprising."

The next step, Hatsukami said, will be to conduct studies to identify the optimum dose and scheduling for administering the vaccine. She noted that the vaccine could be a useful tool to help smokers quit, although in order to kick the habit it will likely be necessary for them to address behavioral aspects of smoking. "It's not going to be a miracle cure."

Hatsukami and her colleagues report results of the study in the November issue of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics.

The "encouraging results" reported in the current study, as well as other recent research on nicotine vaccines, must be confirmed, Dr. Jacques Le Houezec of Amzer Glas in Rennes, France writes in an editorial accompanying the study.

The vaccine could be useful for smokers trying to quit, former smokers hoping to ward off relapse, and could also be used to prevent adolescents from taking up smoking, he noted, adding that giving the vaccine to teens would raise ethical questions as "it will be the first time that a vaccine is used not to prevent a disease but to prevent a behavior."

The nicotine vaccine works by triggering production of antibodies that bind to nicotine, creating a complex that is too large to pass through the blood-brain barrier.

Hatsukami and her colleagues tested the experimental vaccine called NicVAX in 68 smokers. This preliminary study was designed primarily to test the safety of the vaccine.

Volunteers received placebo or 50, 100 or 200 micrograms of the vaccine at days 0, 28, 56 and 182 and were followed for 38 weeks. They were not instructed to quit, unless they expressed a desire to do so.

Fifty-six people completed the study.

While withdrawal symptoms and craving were considered a potential side effect, none of the study participants experienced these symptoms. This was likely because antibody concentrations rose relatively slowly, Hatsukami and her team note. There was also no sign that smokers increased their cigarette consumption to compensate for the vaccine's effects.    Continued ...

imho, there is absolutely no way this will not hit well over 4$ when the nicvax news hits yahoo... if you remember from my nyny pick, everyone who did their dd knew that the article had come out, and it just hadn't hit the pr news wires.

when it did, kaBLAM. nyny went up to 8$.

this is going to be exactly the same with nicvax. the news is not out on yahoo finance, and when the news DOES hit, kaBLAM. the stock will be WELL over 4$, probably will run to even 6$.

buy now or cry later...  :D

Gambler,

This news hasn't arrive and this stock goes gradually down  :'(

I don't want to think that we make a double top on 3,85  ::)

Today the volume has dried up, it seems like the daytraders are leaving from NABI.

ormonxo

gambler2075

well, you have to decide whether to hold or sell... Since I bought in the low 3's, I'm not that concerned, but I did unload 1/4 of my position at 3.70 today.
you have to decide whether or not today looked like 2 days of consolidation before a move higher, OR, did it look like a double top that failed?

I think it's irresponsible to blindly pump, so I will disclose that I sold some of my position for a healthy profit, but I would have sold all if I was sure it was going back down.

It of course depends on whether or not you think news i coming out. I agree that it news DOES NOT come out, the stock will be under pressure. But if it does, well, then it's off tothe races.

News out:
;D
Nabi Biopharmaceuticals Announces U.S. Fast Track Designation for Civacir to Prevent Hepatitis C Re-infection in Liver Transplants
Wednesday February 1, 7:15 pm ET
Hepatitis C Clinical Landscape and Need Aligned with Product Approach; - Outside Scientific and Clinical Advisory Panel is being Formed -

ROCKVILLE, Md., Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Nabi Biopharmaceuticals (Nasdaq: NABI - News) today announced important regulatory and clinical advancements for its product candidate Civacir(TM) [Hepatitis C Immune Globulin (Human)], an antibody for preventing Hepatitis C virus re-infection in liver transplants. Civacir has been granted Fast Track Designation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Under the FDA Modernization Act of 1997, Fast Track regulations facilitate the development of products that treat serious diseases where an unmet medical need exists. Fast Track regulations are also designed to expedite the review process for designated products, including the potential for companies to ask for priority review.

The company also announced today that recent discussions with regulators in the U.S. and EU have been very productive with respect to advancing the development program for Civacir. Based on this important input, Nabi Biopharmaceuticals believes that a proof-of-concept Phase II trial, followed by a single pivotal Phase III study, would be adequate for licensure in the U.S. and Europe, assuming that prospectively defined endpoints are met. The Phase II proof-of-concept study will be designed to add to the knowledge of how Civacir works and the levels of antibodies needed to protect the transplanted liver from re-infection with the Hepatitis C virus.

In addition, Nabi Biopharmaceuticals announced today that consistent with its overall approach to product development, it is establishing an outside scientific and clinical advisory panel to work with the company on the Civacir development program. The company believes that the input and guidance it receives from the panel, combined with input from regulatory bodies in the U.S. and Europe, will be valuable in advancing the regulatory, clinical and commercial development path for Civacir and lead to the design of an optimal Phase III pivotal trial for this first-of-its-kind product.

The Fast Track Designation is the latest in a number of regulatory milestones achieved with Civacir by Nabi Biopharmaceuticals. In June 2005, the company announced that it had gained Orphan Medicinal Product (OMP) designation for Civacir in Europe. If a product with OMP designation is the first to receive marketing authorization in Europe for its designated indication, the product will be entitled to 10-year market exclusivity, thereby preventing a similar drug from receiving authorization for the same indication during this period. OMP designation in the EU was an important milestone for Nabi Biopharmaceuticals, as it represents further validation for the need for new treatment approaches in the care of HCV-positive liver transplant patients. Civacir received orphan drug status in the U.S. in 2002. Among other benefits of orphan drug designation, Civacir will be entitled to seven years of market exclusivity in the U.S., post-launch, thereby preventing a similar drug from receiving authorization for the same indication during this period.
