3stocky Why do you see INSM up soon?  I hope that you are correct I am holding from 2.25 but am curious what you are looking at.  all this week it tried to break 2.40 and only succeeded briefly.  I am using LiveLilfe's template to swing this one... will see how it works out.  Dont miss a ride with SMTX!!!!

back to SPEX  Thoughts, flash in the pan again?  do folks think that we will get a 2nd day gainer or more out of it?  These sharp spikes make me nervous, but are exciting enough!
Cheers Joe

Joet,

A friend of mine was recently hired by INSM at their Boulder, CO manufacturing plant. I can't tell the details that I've been told about the activities there. I was swing-trading a bit, but not anymore. I believe that we will get important news about the path forward including manufacturing plans, marketing plan, partnerships, etc....soon. Don't know when...but definitely real soon. My gut feeling is telling me next week.

INSM is  at the verge of a big jump up and I am not taking any chances with this puppy. I waited long enough to be rewarded and now I am going for the 500-ft home-run

Good luck

SPEX is a profitable biotec company, with a solid balance sheet, and only 9M share float.

SPEX announced last week that an agreement for a multi-national Phase 3 clinical trial of Spherix's NaturloseĀ® as a Type 2 diabetes drug is being finalized.

SPEX also stated that it is investigating possible arrangements with a major drug company. Such a company would be very important to the manufacture, promotion, distribution and sale of the product. Here is the announcement link:

Take a look at SPEX continuously improving financial performance:

and SPEX solid balance sheet:

SPEX has a worldwide patent on TAGATOSE which is the #1 replacement to ASPARTAME. Aspartame has shown in recent studies that it causes lymphoma and other cancers in rats and possibly among humans.

Tagatose is licenced to Dutch company Arla food. Tagatose was approved for sale in Europe in December 2005 and should see increased production in 2006 and beyond:

Tagatose could become a major player in the sugar-replacement market because of many advantages over Aspartame (Equal), sacharine, and Splenda (second article on link below):

Through the years the company has maintained a strong technology focus with an eye on innovation. SPEX is likely to bounce to the mid $3's next week. Maybe higher with news.

I updated the basic DD page and added comments about SPEX's patented Tagatose sweetener (better than Equal, Splenda, and Sweet/Low) according to recent tests.

terabemo

KEEP AN EYE ON SPEX. IT WILL REPORT 2005 EARNINGS THIS WEEK. SPEX WAS PROFITABLE THE LAST TWO QUARTERS.

THE YEAR TO YEAR and QUARTER TO QUARTER COMPARISON WILL GREATLY FAVOR 2005 OVER 2004.

This low floater really moves!!

This is not for the faint of heart.

terabemo

SPEX is a wild bronco. They make this one go up and down 10% about 10 times an hour. It is kinda fun to watch this action.

Could be back in the swing of things.
I will see if I have more time to check it out later.
I am over run with things to do...... ;)

I've been in and out of SPEX many times, currently have 6000 @ 2.80. SPEX will probally run back to the 3's. This is a good stock to daytrade if you watch it closely.I think it's to risky for a buy and hold.Recent news,Related Quotes

Spherix Moves Toward Final Diabetes Trials

March 23, 2006 11:41:56 (ET)

BELTSVILLE, Md., March 23, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Spherix Incorporated (SPEX, Trade) announced that its CEO, its BioSpherix Division Research Manager, and its consultant, ENVIRON International, Inc., just returned from overseas where they met with key staff members and inspected facilities of a clinical research organization. An agreement for a multi-national Phase 3 clinical trial of Spherix's Naturlose(R) as a Type 2 diabetes drug is being finalized. Preliminary work is underway and patient recruitment is expected to begin before year-end.

Last November, the FDA approved the Phase 1 and Phase 2 clinical trial data submitted by Spherix, and authorized the Phase 3 clinical trial in December (see Spherix's 12/6/05 press release). In January 2006, the Company placed an order with its manufacturer for bulk Naturlose to conduct the trials, and contracted with ENVIRON, a scientific consulting organization highly experienced in FDA regulatory work, to help plan and oversee the trials (see Spherix's 1/10/06 press release). Diabetes is debilitating, widespread, and growing, now affecting more than 18.2 million people in the United States and 170 million people worldwide. Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of the disease.

The protocols for the Phase 3 trials are currently under design. While Spherix is prepared to complete the study on its own, it is investigating possible arrangements with a major drug company should one become interested in the trial. Such a company would be very important to the manufacture, promotion, distribution and sale of the product.

Under its motto, "A World of Solutions," Spherix's mission is to create value and increase shareholder wealth through innovations that benefit our clients and the human condition. Spherix offers innovations in information technology, knowledge management, and biotechnology.

Spherix Reports 2005 Financial Results and Revenue Growth

Spherix Reports 2005 Financial Results and Revenue Growth
Thursday March 30, 2:25 pm ET

BELTSVILLE, Md., March 30 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Spherix Incorporated (Nasdaq: SPEX - News) today reports that the Company ended the year with an overall growth in revenue of 3%, from $22.3 million in 2004, to $23.0 million in 2005. The sales backlog between years increased by $11.4 million (19%), bringing the Company's backlog to a new recorded level of $72 million. The Company's net loss for the year ended December 31, 2005, remained the same as 2004, at $2.8 million. Fourth quarter revenue growth of $398,000 (12%), combined with the Company's cost cutting efforts, resulted in an improvement of $472,000 to the bottom line between 2005 and 2004, for the same fourth quarter periods. The significant improvement in the fourth quarter effectively offset the increased loss in the first quarter caused by the lower contribution margin on the new State of Maryland contract.

Spherix Reduces Loss 50% in First Quarter

BELTSVILLE, Md., May 12, 2006 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Spherix Incorporated (

8:55am 05/12/2006

SPEX2.28, -0.03, -1.3%) today reported a net loss of $533,000 on sales of $5.9 million for the three-months ended March 31, 2006, compared to a loss of $1.1 million on sales of $5.4 million for the same period in 2005. The improvement in net loss between periods came despite higher than expected legal fees related to our protest of the National Recreation Reservation Service contract, and costs incurred related to our Phase 3 clinical trial of Naturlose as a Type 2 diabetes drug.
Spherix's newly formed, wholly-owned subsidiary, InfoSpherix Incorporated,
showed a 9% growth in revenue of $501,000, primarily due to new business and
growth in our existing business.  The loss in the parent Company, which
includes our BioSpherix Division, was partially due to planned expenditures
related to research and clinical trials to promote the non-foods uses of
Naturlose.
