In a gold post I mentioned the Japanese Tokyo Nikkei as it looks good for further gains this year.

http://www.3stocksonfire.org/trading/index.php?topic=2215.new#new

Then figured I would cross post the chart here as there are many world market that look good and when the US markets do correct it may be good to trade in some other markets.

Anyway just something to start off and will post some other markets another time so please share what you know or see..

You can play it with ETFs like EWJ or small cap fund JOF or  Profunds Ultra Japan fund, which moves about 200% relative to the Nikkei. I am sure there are several ADRs also in the USA for Japanese companies.

Japanese Stocks Plunge After Raid
Tuesday January 17, 5:29 am ET
Japanese Stocks Plunge After Raid of Internet Company Livedoor

TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's main stock index plunged 2.8 percent Tuesday, posting its biggest loss in nearly two years amid a high-profile investigation of leading Internet company Livedoor Co.
The Nikkei 225 index dropped 462.08 points to 15,805.95 points. That's the index's biggest drop since May 10, 2004, when it lost 554.12 points, or 4.84 percent.
Monday evening's raid of Livedoor on suspected securities violations spooked retail investors, spurring sell-off of other Internet firms like Softbank Corp. and Yahoo Japan that are popular among such investors.
Major auto and electronics firms also fell as investors used the incident as an opportunity to sell shares after the market's extended rally.
Livedoor's stock dropped 14.4 percent to 596 yen ($5.18), its lowest allowed price for the day as sell orders overwhelmed buy orders. Livedoor trades on the Tokyo Stock Exchange's Mothers Market, established in 1999 to make it easier for start-ups to tap the stock market.
Softbank dropped 11.1 percent to 3,840 yen ($33.36) Tuesday, while Yahoo Japan shed 8.4 percent to 164,000 yen ($1,424.60).
Takafumi Horie, Livedoor's 33-year-old chief executive -- and a big celebrity in Japan for his iconoclastic ways and bold buy-out attempts -- denied any wrongdoing, adding that the company would cooperate with prosecutors in their investigation.
Other losers included Honda Motor Co., whose share price fell 0.15 percent to 6,310 yen ($54.81); Toyota Motor Corp., down 0.51 percent to 5,850 yen; and Kyocera, maker of ceramics packages used in computer chips, down 2.76 percent to 9,140 ($79.40).
Matsushita Electric Industrial lost 3.19 percent to 2,425 yen ($21.06); Sony fell 2.38 percent to 4,910 yen ($42.66); and Sharp Corp. was down 2.39 percent to 2,040 yen ($17.72).
The broader Topix index of all shares on TSE's first section also fell sharply, losing 38.54 points, or 2.31 percent, to 1,631.61 points Tuesday.

Losers beat gainers 1,531 to 109 on the section.

The dollar was trading at 114.71 yen on the Tokyo foreign exchange market at 5 p.m. (0800 GMT) Tuesday, up 0.14 yen from late Monday in New York. The euro fell to $ 1.2130 from $1.2146 late Monday.

The 10-year Japanese government bond yield fell to 1.4250 percent Tuesday, down from Monday's finish of 1.4550 percent. Its price rose 0.26 point to 99.78.

Japanese Stocks Plunge for Second Day

Japanese Stocks Plunge for Second Day Amid Probe of Internet Company Livedoor

TOKYO (AP) -- Japan's main stock market nose-dived for a second day Wednesday on growing investor jitters from "Livedoor shock," the widening criminal investigation at an Internet startup that has sparked a sell-off, especially in technology shares.
The benchmark for the Tokyo Stock Exchange plunged 2.9 percent Wednesday in a session that had to be shortened by 20 minutes because of a surge in transactions. The Nikkei 225 index dropped 464.77 points to close at 15,341.18 points, its biggest drop since May 10, 2004.
Share prices extended losses from Tuesday, when the Nikkei fell 2.8 percent, following Japanese newspaper reports that the investigation begun Monday was expanding. The index has fallen nearly 6 percent the last two sessions.
"Individual and foreign investors are selling in a panic," said Satoru Otsuka, senior economist at Mizuho Research Institute in Tokyo. "The problem is that we have no idea how the Livedoor problem will unfold."
Investors and the Japanese public alike were stunned when prosecutors marched into the Tokyo headquarters of Livedoor late Monday on suspicion of violation of securities laws by giving false information.
Livedoor offers various Internet services, including access, consulting, telecommunications, mobile sites and software development.
The company is headed by Takafumi Horie, who has risen to celebrity status for his frequent TV appearances and unsuccessful attempts to buy a media conglomerate and a baseball team. Horie, 33, denies any wrongdoing and has pledged to cooperate with authorities.
The Japanese media have dubbed the two-day plunge in Tokyo stocks "Livedoor shock," which has garnered banner headlines and intense media coverage.
Technology and electronics firms took a hit Wednesday, including Advantest Corp., Canon Inc., Toshiba Corp. and Sony Corp.
Those losses could also be partly attributed to investor reaction to earnings results Tuesday from U.S. chipmaker Intel Corp. and Web giant Yahoo Inc., which were lower than analysts' expectations.
The Tokyo Stock Exchange issued a warning in the early afternoon that it handled 2.32 million transactions in the morning session and would stop trading if the system limit of 4 million transactions was reached.
Total trading volume, which is a higher measure because each transaction typically involves many shares, was 3.28 billion on the first section, up from 2.465 billion on Tuesday.
Livedoor's shares were suspended briefly during morning trading. Livedoor's stock fell 14.4 percent Tuesday, the maximum amount allowed, to 596 yen ($5.18). They closed unchanged Wednesday.
Kyodo News agency reported the fresh probe on Wednesday, but neither Livedoor nor the Tokyo Prosecutors Office could confirm that report.
The national daily Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Wednesday Livedoor is suspected of concealing a 1 billion yen ($8.7 million) deficit for the full-year results ending September 2004.
The broader Topix index of all shares on the first section fell 56.94 points, or 3.49 percent, to 1,574.67. The Topix dropped 38.54 points, or 2.31 percent, on Tuesday.
In currencies, the dollar was trading at 115.58 yen in Tokyo by midafternoon, up 0.07 yen from late Tuesday in New York. The euro fell to $1.2088 from $1.2143 late Tuesday in New York.

How the media sometimes loves to be dramatic. The Tokyo market as can be seen on the chart has gone to a perfect place for a pullback. All the Fibonacci points line up to support areas.

A normal retrace is such a bull market would be to the 38% retrace at about 13,260 and that is also at the 50-day EMA. Even a drop to there is not a plunge but a normal health retrace after such a fast move it would be fine. It tested the long term trend line and bounced but I expect it will drop again. It also has support at 14500 not seen on small chart.

Has anybody here been trading Japanese stock directly?

I have bought ADRs before, but Etrade just announced recently that in April they will allow traders to set up separate accounts for trading in Canada, Germany, Japan and a few others.

I lived in Japan for many years so am thinking seriously about setting up an account then, depending on the condition of the market.  Germany is also supposed to be fairly bullish, and I have been seeing some nice setups on select Canadian stocks here and there on my scans, so I might try those too.

Japan: Nikkei 225...

The Nikkei 225 turned down below short-term support at 8600, signaling another test of primary support at 7000. Twiggs Money Flow (21-Day) crossed to below zero, indicating selling pressure. The Japanese market has been living precariously, ignoring the sharp contraction in its export-led economy, and a down-turn would signal a wave of realism.

Japan: Nikkei

The Nikkei 225 respected primary resistance at 9500 before retracing to find support at 9000. Twiggs Money Flow (21-Day) holding above zero indicates buying pressure. Breakout above 9500 would signal a primary up-trend, with a target of 12000, calculated as 9500 + [ 9500 - 7000 ]. Reversal below 9000, while less likely, would warn of a down-swing to test primary support at 7000.

Japan: Nikkei 225
The Nikkei 225 continues its primary advance towards 12000, unaffected so far by bearish sentiment in other markets. Rising Twiggs Money Flow (21-Day) signals buying pressure. Reversal below 9000 is unlikely, but would warn of a correction.

Japan: Nikkei 225...Bearish Divergence
The Nikkei 225 respected resistance at 10000 and Twiggs Money Flow (21-Day) shows a bearish divergence. Failure of support at 9500 would warn of a secondary correction. Reversal above 10000, while less likely, would signal a primary advance with a target of 12000 — calculated as
9500 + ( 9500 - 7000 ).

Japan...
The Nikkei 225 recovered above 9600 Monday, indicating a test of resistance at 10000. Bullish divergence on 13-week Twiggs Money Flow suggests a reversal, but the primary trend remains downward for the present.

The Nikkei 225 continues to test medium-term support at 9350; failure would test primary support at 8800. Twiggs Money Flow (21-day) falling sharply below zero warns of strong selling pressure. Recovery above 9800 is unlikely, but would signal an advance to 10200.
