Price action breaking out of a year long descending wedge, filling the gap, heavy volume, Morning doji star pattern. This is looking like a good buy for tomorrow morning.

Descending wedge breakout:

Filling the gap along with a Morning Doji star candlestick pattern:

Morning Doji Star

Significance: bullish

Indication: reversal

# of candles: 3

Previous Trend: Bearish

The Morning Doji Star pattern is characterizes by 3 candles. The fisrt day is a long black candle reinforcing the already bearish downtrend. The second is gaps down and forms a doji candle, indicating confusion in the market and a reversal could be upon us. And finally the 3rd day forms a white candle whose closing price pushes well into the real body of the first black day that occurred in this pattern. A gap up on the 3rd day is preferred for an ideal bullish Morning Star pattern though is not required. Confirmation of this pattern is provided by a higher close on the 4th day.

Note: Candlestick reversal patterns are significantly more potent when occuring near areas of support and resistence.

Axcelis Secures Key Technology Win for New High Dose Optima Implanter; Latest Tool in Optima Family Recognized for Precision, Spot Beam Optics and Applications Coverage

BEVERLY, Mass.--(Business Wire)--Jan. 11, 2006--
Axcelis Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ACLS) has won an
order for its new Optima HD high dose ion implanter. The order
reflects the growing market acceptance that Axcelis' Optima technology
platform is experiencing around the globe.
"The Optima is the only implant platform designed expressly to
address the industry's full range of implant applications that exist
today and for those emerging at the 65nm technology node and below,"
said Mary Puma, chairman and CEO of Axcelis. "With this initial Optima
HD order, we're seeing customers validate the second phase in the
rollout of our platform. They are excited by the alternative that the
Optima HD offers versus tools available on the market today. Its
acceptance follows on the heels of our Optima MD tool, which is
becoming a top choice for a growing base of mid dose implant
customers."
Designed for simplicity and cost effectiveness, the Optima
platform of implanters provides complete, extendible applications
coverage, giving users maximum flexibility and capital efficiency.
Axcelis' Optima HD, a low energy, high dose tool, provides the most
precise implant capability for source/drain, source/drain extension

superior spot beam optics. The Optima HD will be formally launched

This set up just got even better :D 3 white soldiers candlestick pattern.

3 White Soldiers

Significance: bullish

Indication: reversal/momentum

# of candles: 3

Previous Trend: N/A

The 3 White Soldiers pattern can be appear in all instances of the market. The prior trend to this pattern need not be bullish, bearish, or neutral for this pattern to be valid. 3 White Soldiers indicate extreme momentum in the market and indicates higher prices ahead. The pattern is characterized by 3 long white candles with the opening of each candle within the real body of the prior candle, or very close to within it. The closing price of the of all 3 candles are either at the high of the day or very close.

Note: Candlestick reversal patterns are significantly more potent when occuring near areas of support and resistence.

Great pick fousc...

Your analysis of the 3 white soldiers persuaded me to buy in at 5.38....

Where do you see it going from here. I see the new target is $10.

Great job!

aix

fous

Nice rally today and still looking bullish. Good luck to Wrangler who chose this for the contest.

Hey Aix, if i were a psychic i would say it is going to $10 to boost your confidence.... But im no psychic ;) i see no technical target for this one. just some resistence areas around 6.80, 7.60, and 8.00. Good luck on your trade.

Well, maybe you and aix both are psychics, and having WW premonitions.  ;D

Looks like this might be a nice buy on a pullback to the gap and the 200DMA at 5.87-5.93, if we get it.

ScottishTrader

But watch yesterday's doji star - could signal the next leg as the last one did (perhaps not as reliable as the previous candle is not very long, but still).

Could also be a fake-out of the flag in continuation.  I really like the look of this one, and may get in if it is looking strong, otherwise will aim for an entry around 6.01

After putting in a Bear Flag, ACLS has been pulling back to 5.87-5.93.  Friday's low was 6.05.

Scotsman,

Hmm-mm...the Bear Flag target IN PLAY is 6.02.

If it's really, really bullish, it won't fill the gap.

My biggest concern about getting long ACLS is the fact that, like QTWW, it got smacked entering the Kumo (Cloud) the week before last, put in a Bearish Doji Star Hangman that week, then this week, it put in a Black Candle that gives the last three weeks the look of a Bearish Evening Star.  This week's close wasn't 50% below the close of the big white candle, though.

???  ???   ???

I'm thinking that maybe it will come down and tag the Tenkan-Sen at 5.77 for a gap filler, and  bounce off there.  (See chart, next post).

Melf Elf

I don't like the 5.05 stop on the last chart.  Too much risk for me, but I like a "logical stop."
Maybe 5.34, the high before the breakout, or 5.50, the Kijun-Sen.

???  ???  ???

I'll have to give it some more thought.  I like the fact that an analyst upgraded ACLS to 10.00 (10.50?), which is up where the Wolfe Wave #6 target is.

I decided to buy it at 5.91, the 200DMA.  Didn't get it.  >:(

It's really, really bullish. ACLS didn't fill the gap, and it's up 21% this morning, to 7.69.

This was my pick on the contest and see this stock making new high's.

Axcelis Technologies (ACLS:Nasdaq - commentary - research - Cramer's Take) also posted fourth-quarter results that came in ahead of expectations, sending shares up 23%. The maker of semiconductor processing equipment reported a loss of $1.3 million, or 1 cent a share, compared with a year-earlier profit of $7 million, or 7 cents a share. Excluding restructuring costs of $1.7 million, or 2 cents a share, the company would have earned a penny a share during the latest quarter. Wall Street expected a loss of 3 cents a share. The company's sales fell to $92.9 million from $94.5 million, but beat analysts' forecast of $90 million.
Looking ahead, Axcelis Technologies sees first-quarter sales of $90 million to $100 million. Analysts project sales of $90.4 million. Shares were trading up $1.46 to $7.82.

That's great, wrangler!  Applause.  I didn't get the price that I wanted.  I'm glad that you had it.

I'm a newbie at these Wolfe Waves that Calven has been teaching us in the Wolfe Wave folder on the Technical Analysis Board, so I'm interested to see if ACLS can make it to the target at Wave #6, which is at about 9.74 for today, February 13.  The target line rises about a penny each day.

Good luck with the contest.
