NMSS Communications Swings to 1Q Profit

NMSS Communications Posts 1Q Profit From Year-Ago Loss on Strong Sales


FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (AP) -- NMS Communications, a maker of telecommunications network hardware, on Wednesday posted a first-quarter profit -- reversing a year-ago loss -- as sales jumped 36 percent.
Quarterly earnings amounted to $1.7 million, or 3 cents per share, compared with a year-earlier loss of $2.1 million, or 4 cents per share. Excluding $122,000 in amortization charges and $786,000 in stock-based compensation costs, earnings were $2.6 million, or 5 cents per share.

Revenue increased to $30.7 million from $22.6 million in the prior-year quarter.

The results topped analysts' consensus target for earnings of 2 cents per share, excluding items, on sales of $29.7 million, according to Thomson Financial.

The company said it expects full-year revenue of $123 million to $128 million. Excluding stock compensation and amortization, NMS sees per-share profit of 12 cents to 16 cents in the quarter. Wall Street is looking for 2006 earnings per share of 13 cents on $122.8 million in revenue.

NMS shares added 2 cents in aftermarket activity after spiking 25 cents, or 7.2 percent, to close at $3.71 on the Nasdaq. The stock has traded between $2.57 and $4.19 over the past year.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 8, 2006--NMS Communications (NASDAQ: NMSS - News) today announced that the Company's Board of Directors has authorized the repurchase of up to 1,100,000 shares of its common stock by the end of the year. The intent of the repurchase program is to approximately offset the otherwise dilutive effect of stock option grants. Repurchases may be made from time to time on the open market or in privately negotiated transactions. Shares may be repurchased in such amounts as market conditions warrant, subject to regulatory and other considerations. As of March 31, 2006, NMS had cash and marketable securities available of approximately $61.7 million

I think it is actually time to buy.Today's volume 845725,avg. vol 503725.Company has no debt and 57.86 mil. cash. ma cross over 10 d sma is above 20 dema which in turn is trying to cross 50 day ema.Good luck

Bought today @2.01. Has formed a new uptrend that started in Dec. and has formed a trading channel. Is now setting at the support of the channel ready for the next move up to resistance of channel. My target will be between 2.35 and 2.40.
