Looking through the past messages, this stock was first discussed back in 5/26/05 and David Randolph mentioned it again on 6/2/05.  Since 6/2/05, the stock has been bouncing around the .128 - .134 range.  What do the charts say?

Thanks!

I have owned SMTR for a couple of months now at an average price of 0.225 cents, as I heard this company had a great product and it looked very promising.  The recent news brought the price down drastically and am wondering if this is actually a good time to buy more to average down or just sell and take a loss because this stock will not recover for some time to come?

All replies appreciated.

thanks very much,

julia

Averaging down after the stock is down is a 'bad' strategy 'generally'. There could be exceptions and you could be lucky to get away with it. However, the experience shows that it makes you hold the 'bag' much longer.

Sharing my own experience: I did that the same with SYMC first in at 33, then 29, then I saw it slipping to 28. I had enough. Sold all around 28 and see now where is the stock. I was not only able to invest the amount in better uptrending stocks then wait forever to SYMC to turn back.

Anyway its your own decision to sell or keep. Just if you are very bullish on the stock for some reason then the stock may come back to break even.

However, there is one big exception. That is if you are investing like Warren Buffet and knows that the stock has gone down the fair value. The favourite holding time for WB is 'forever'. I doubt an average investor [leave out any trader] will match WB in his strategy.

There is one more exception:

If you have bought with half of your position and have already planned in advance that you will buy the rest of your half position if the stock pull back to certain level, then its fine to buy/average down. Some pros do that. But still they have clear cutoff point below which they will rather sell the original half position then buy. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the advice Stocky.

Well, i'm not sure what i want to do yet, but I think u r right, to not average down.  I was wondering if perhaps anyone knew any more about this company and could give me a clue as to whether it is just going thru a bad period right now and will recover in the near future because they have a great product.

I appreciate your suggestions and will probably wait it out a bit more as the stock has dropped to about a third of what i had purchased it at...at this point maybe i should just hold on for awhile longer to see if it will recover somewhat.

Thanks very much and I will keep that advice for future stock purchases as welll

I've got my fingers crossed as well.  Bought into this several months ago on news legislation was going to be passed requiring their sensors on all commercial rigs to monitor tire pressure by 2007.  Long term this could be a big gainer.
Right now just hoping to go positive for nowsince I bought during a rise that turned out to be higher than what it has been running lately, .16, after a pullback.

gmarc66

its been moving a bit these last few days.
Anyone else still in?
Wondering if anyone has any ideas if this could make any substantial moves or not...im holding it at .225.

thanks very much,

giulia ;D

RICHMOND, Canada, Sept. 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SmarTire Systems Inc. (OTC Bulletin Board: SMTR) announced today that it has achieved registration to ISO/TS 16949:2002, the quality management standard for the automotive and commercial vehicle industries.

The certification applies to SmarTire's design and manufacture of wireless sensing and control systems for the global transportation industry.
