Bought ESLR at 12.85 for technical reasons posted yesterday (see above 3 posts).  Stop: a CLOSE or obvious late day tank below 11.92.  Risk: a loss of roughly 8%.

Yesterday, the 34/55 RSIs came into Synchronicity, so a print today of 13.11, a penny above yesterday's high of 13.10, is a "buy pivot."

13.11 just printed.

A print of 13.21 would be a technical breakout of the Ascending Triangle (posted above).

13.21 printed while I was typing the last post, so that's a breakout.  Target: 16.36 is IN PLAY.

Stopped out at 11.91.  With the market looking as lousy as it does, I don't want to wait to see any late day tank.  Loss: 7.3%

:( sorry to hear melf better luck next time. I like ESLR alot its just at the current point in time im afraid of touching any U.S. stock for long term hold.

I just don't seem to be able to leave ESLR alone.  ::)

It has taken a nasty beating, so I've been trading it rather much.

I would have thought that last earnings and c/c would have given it a nice little kick upwards, but it seems like it wasn't to be...
To me the below doesn't look terrible, and the c/c also was fine.  ???

DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

Evergreen Solar Inc.'s (ESLR) second-quarter loss widened to $8.39 million, or 11 cents a share, from $4.49 million, or 7 cents a share, a year earlier, as rising costs outpaced revenue growth.

The Marlboro, Mass., solar-power products company's revenue doubled to $22.4 million from $10.7 million a year earlier.

Analysts polled by Thomson First Call expected, on average, a per-share loss of 15 cents on revenue of $22 million.

I keep ESLR on my alert list for a bottom possibly soon. I havent looked at ESLR for a couple weeks since it continued to break support and head down. ESLR is a broken down stock right now. Maybe in a few weeks to a few months will be a good time to get back in.

cumulina,

And, I don't seem to be able to make a winning play in ESLR.

I got faked out of my short on the Bull Trap in April, and I got faked out in July on the Bullish Ascending Triangle that morphed into a Bearish Rising Wedge.

>:(  >:D

Maybe one of these days, I'll get this one right!  Good luck to you.  Hope the chart improves.

Agreed, nullz.

I haven't looked at it in awhile either.  Shorting the re-test of the broken Bearish Rising Wedge on July 20 would have been a nice play.  I wasn't watching it.

update:
Evergreen Solar "underperform," target price reduced

Wednesday, August 09, 2006 5:55:39 AM ET
RBC Capital Markets

NEW YORK, August 9 (newratings.com) - Analysts at RBC Capital Markets reiterate their "underperform" rating on Evergreen Solar Inc (ESLR.NAS). The target price has been reduced from $11 to $8.

In a research note published yesterday, the analysts mention that the company's total product gross margin is expected to decline to under 10% by the end of 2007. The analysts express their concern regarding Evergreen Solar's low-efficiency product leading to price weakness and higher total costs as compared to standard solar cells. The impact of silicon costs on the company's margins and restricted management transparency are likely to adversely affect Evergreen Solar's share price over the forthcoming 12 months, RBC Capital Markets adds.

chart update (MACD crossing soon?):

chart update (MACD crossing soon?):

Oliver,

If ESLR only trades sideways, MACD likely will cross above its signal line.  As soon as today.  Viewing that signal within the context of how the chart itself looks, would we want to take that MACD crossover as a buy signal?

See the AVII folder for an example, if interested.  ;)

Hi,

Yesterday a Black Spinning Top was formed. This represents complete indecision between the bulls and the bears. The end of the pullback ?

close at 10.13
target at 8.05
stop loss at 10.20

Reward/Risk ratio of  26.15 / 0.69 = 37.89..EXCEPTIONNAL  :D I we are wrong, it is not too hard for our portofolio but if we are in the good way, BINGO

ESLR represents my philosophy :
1. Determine major trend : BEARISH for Nasdaq
2. Have a look on minor trend : END of pullback
3. Select BEARISH stocks with low risk and good potential profit

Seb,

ESLR failed at 10.42 last Friday on a Bearish Inverted Doji Star Hangman, within three cents of the bottom of the broken channel (pattern in purple), which came in at 10.4513.

It's currently at 9.49, down 9% from that failure at resistance.

Nice job of playing with the trend.  Applause.

Thank you Melf Elf...

My stop loss was too tight ;) An another lesson for me...
