I hope so Garoh, but I don't think a close above or below $2.3 is technically significant, volume dried down completely again, since today only 5,840 shares changed hands.

Fundamentally, and speaking about the 2nd quarter earnings, I guess it will all come down to the market acceptation of CimatronE version 8.0:

«CimatronE Version 8 is a substantial and significant release that will greatly enhance and broaden the Cimatron CAD/CAM offering. It introduces totally new applications, new product features, and also provides substantial improvement to existing functions within CimatronE. With this expanded scope of applications, product enhancements, and focus on the more rapidly growing areas of CAM technology and market, Cimatron expects to increase their rate of revenue growth and profitability. CIMdata is favorably impressed by the evolution in Cimatron product and market strategy and the sizeable content of Version 8. It is expected that the product will be well received in the worldwide market.»

It seems Microsystem is making its best efforts to sell as much as they can of CimatronE version 8.0, look at their website: http://www.microsystem.it/imgs_comuni/index.asp

I'll keep holding CIMT.

hey david. What's the difference between Net Profit Margin and Operating Profit margin.  Then please explain why you have CIMT's net margin estimated to be at 15 as opposed to the industry's average of 2.7 (operating profit margin).

Operating Profit Margin is Operating Income/Revenues and Net Profit Margin is Net Income/Revenues.

Operating Income is "a measure of a company's earning power from ongoing operations, equal to earnings before deduction of interest payments and income taxes. Also called operating profit or EBIT (earnings before interest and taxes)."

Net Income is "what remains after subtracting all the costs (namely, business, depreciation, interest, and taxes) from a company's revenues. Net income is sometimes called the bottom line. Also called earnings or net profit."

QuoteThen please explain why you have CIMT's net margin estimated to be at 15 as opposed to the industry's average of 2.7 (operating profit margin).

That's because that industry average takes into account a lot of companies that have negative operating income. There are hundreds of companies in the Technical & System Software Industry.

But once the development stage of software is passed and companies start having meaningful revenues usually software companies achieve a fat net profit margin. I think this will be the case with CIMT.

Thanks la-onda, this knobias website is really great :)

Probably CIMT had no slides and didn't wish to have a webcast of that presentation, because if they did it would be at www.twst.com which was the exclusive company covering the conference:

But let's see if they reply you.

Nothing happened today on CIMT, neither technically or fundamentally. I'll continue holding the stock.

Maybe someone can call some of Cimatron's distributors and ask how the new product is doing?  :) To bad they haven't got an office in Belgium, maybe I'll try to call the one in the Netherlands and ask some more info about CimatronE Die Design 8 ...

Btw, today the Euro is at a record high against the USD ...  ::)
Així és la Catalunya, així és el Barça! Mès que un club!!!

CIMT is one of the 10 largest companies in the world in the Computer Aided Manufacturing market, according to annual sales:

«Cimatron excels in the toolmaking software marketplace. Its total focus on toolmakers is the company's primary distinguishing characteristic, as it supports the process from quoting to delivery by offering a specialized, end-to-end integrated solution that meets these requirements. The company also offers a range of software capabilities that are designed for toolmakers, including those for data import, manufacturing modeling, core and cavity parting, mold base design, electrode design, machining, drafting, management of engineering change orders and information management. Moreover, the company is unique among CAM-centric vendors for establishing distinctive supporting applications, such as quoting solutions for mold and die makers and collaboration software for preliminary tool design.

On the basis of revenues received in 2004, CIMdata ranked Cimatron in the top 10 among CAM software vendors worldwide. The company was also among the top ten in Europe and Asia.»

The largest company in the field is USG:

«Traditionally, the strength of UGS has been at the enterprise level of the CAM market. Overall strengths are market presence, breadth of offering, integration from design through manufacturing, consulting resources available and being among leaders in process planning, mold design, progressive die design and high speed machining.

The recent acquisition of Tecnomatix broadens the UGS manufacturing product offering and provides a number of opportunities for the company to enhance the NX CAM product line. Its broad, integrated manufacturing software product line is conducive to further expansion.

CIMdata cites UGS as the worldwide largest CAM vendor in 2004 on the basis of revenue received and number of seats shipped. The company is also listed as one of the largest PLM vendors in 2004.»

Now, USG was acquired by Siemens for $3.5 B:

«The companies announced on January 25 a definitive agreement for Siemens AG to acquire UGS for US$3.5 billion, including assumption of existing debt.»

Now, let's consider the following article completely: CAD/CAM Outlook - Differentiation Among CAM Software Products

We have CIMT before version 8.0.

Now consider the second company, Open Mind Technologies:

«Viewed by CIMdata as an industry leader in providing software for positional and simultaneous five-axis milling of complex components, the company offers extensive resources and specific application solutions to support five-axis milling of intricate products, such as impellers, blisks, turbine blades, tubes, pipes, tire molds, aerospace components, dies and deep cavities within molds.»

And what did CIMT do?

• Cimatron 5-Axis Helps Tool Maker Reduce use of Electrodes by Over 30%
PR Newswire (Tue, Jun 12)

Version 8 has that 5-Axis capability.

As for the largest company in the field, USG which was acquired by Siemens for $3.5 B, here's what they do:

«Traditionally, the strength of UGS has been at the enterprise level of the CAM market. Overall strengths are market presence, breadth of offering, integration from design through manufacturing, consulting resources available and being among leaders in process planning, mold design, progressive die design and high speed machining.»

And version 8 has:

• Cimatron to Showcase New Die Design Application at BlechExpo, the Premier International Fair for Sheet Metal Processing
PR Newswire (Mon, Apr 30)

So this 5-Axis and die design stuff seems to be a big deal, because they were what CIMT's competitors had and CIMT didn't. But now CIMT has and its market reach probably expanded a lot.

As for the second quarter, just Microsystem and just in Italy, had 14 presentations of the product in several cities:

Now, the question is: do people buy software right at those presentations, or there's a lag?

I don't think it matters all that much, because our focus must be beyond this quarter's results. I'm interested in investigating if the product is really good or not, not if it sells right here, right now, but if it's sales will be increasing over time.

I'll continue holding CIMT for the long term.

David Randolph

No news out for CIMT today. Also no new technical developments. I've exposed my fundamental case thoroughly and I'll continue holding CIMT for the long term.

David Randolph

CIMT went down 3.3% today, in what I believe is a bottoming process. The company is now valued at $16.4 M for annual sales of roughly $32 M (including Microsystem).

I'll keep holding CIMT for the long term.

I pretty much think now that there is a paid basher on this stock at YMB.  For a microcap stock its odd for that to be the case.  But seriously, you have 3 names now posting with titles in all Caps for the begging of each word, all same style.  I actually see this as a positive for the stock, someone wants to be able to buy some shares at a low price.  Im going to do my best to make sure that its not my shares they get...  ;)

Yep tokyopua I feel the same way. For such a thinly traded stock at already such low levels there is no other reason to me that someone would spend so much time bashing this little company on YMB other than they think they can shake out weak retail holders and get cheap shares. Someone wants to load up on this stock with as little effect on the PPS as possible. He/She/They aren't getting my shares either.
