Check out the new ad for Hellgate on youtube. ;D ;D

Don't know about the dancing girls though........ouch!

Funny video dmdray :)

If we take into account what one single online game did for companies like NCTY (which is worth $1.45 B - roughly double the value of GIGM), we see that Hellgate: London has the potential to change GIGM's value completely.

Will that happen or not? Nobody knows, but right now GIGM is priced like Hellgate: London (and other of the company's initiatives) not even exists, therefore I consider the stock extremely attractive from a fundamental standpoint and I'll keep holding.

Gotta admit that game does look awesome!

As for the dancing girls, that is just the way things get promoted in Asia  ;)

Yeah, you know about Asia Tokyopua :)

Technically GIGM made today what technicians call a "retest", which happens when a stock comes back down to touch a support level, which previously worked as a resistance.

Fundamentally there's no way to go but up.

David Randolph

GIGM responded to the technical support level with a 0.92% rise today. The technical picture will get much clearer when/if the stock closes back above the key $13.8 resistance level.

Last year the company reported second quarter earnings in August 10th, so probably it will report at around that date. I'm confident it will positively surprise people.

David Randolph

GIGM touched support again on Friday. I would like to have the stock above $13.79 before the earnings release, but don't know if that's going to happen or not. But I expect results to be above expectations, so definitely after results GIGM should make a bullish breakout.

I'll keep holding GIGM.

GIGM should have plenty of time to test its long-term ascending support before turning in the next bull leg.

That's a nice chart berloga, and it can be a plausible explanation for what is happening with GIGM in technical terms. In my chart the stock gave us a bearish technical signal today, as it closed below the key short term technical support of $13.79 on volume above average. It also closed right at the 200 days SMA, which usually works as a long term support level.

From a fundamental standpoint, the only risk I see is European countries banning online gambling and money transfers from banks and credit cards to that type of websites. That would have a significant material impact in GIGM's revenues and earnings over the short and medium term. But I don't think that's going to happen, at least, not in the near future.

I'll attribute the short term weakness to "technical noise" ... also, there was some misleading bearish information when the company gave its 2nd quarter guidance.

I'll keep holding GIGM.

I could be wrong, but all these gaming stocks, snda, gigm, and ntes were down, maybe in sympathy with tomo, which reported earnings.

I don't think that's the reason because TOMO isn't an online gaming company, it is related to wireless internet.

I don't see the reason why GIGM is declining so sharply, I mean, other than technical reasons.

Someone wrote a post on Yahoo that might explain the fall, it seems that regulatory concerns are preventing the company from launching Mahjong for money, even though the company doesn't allow Americans to play (damn politicians).

The stock isn't trading on fundamentals like revenues and profits, but on "the law may hurt the company". I think that Gigamedia, having its operations mainly in Europe and Asia, wont be hurt by the law ... moreover, their business is legitimate, it just needs to be taxed in a proper and innovative way.

I know the stock is breaking down sharply and I've let a profit turn into a loss (which is always a bad idea), but I don't want to sell now when I'm quite convinced that 2nd quarter revenues and EPS will beat expectations by a wide margin. And I love the long term prospects of the company.

I'll keep holding GIGM.

David Randolph

After what I saw happening today on JAKK, a stock that was near all time highs reporting bad quarterly numbers, it wouldn't surprise me to see GIGM, a stock that is technically breaking down, shooting up 15% on a positive earnings surprise.

This has been my expectation for this quarter all along, ever since the company gave us that misinterpreted guidance, saying there would be a sequential decline in growth in one business unit (decline from the previous 50% sequential growth), and then reports by Reuters and others saying "the company expects a sequential decline in revenues due to seasonality".

Sequential decline in in growth is obviously different from "sequential decline". I've checked my views with the company and received an e-mail from investor relations saying "GIGM expects a sequential decline in the growth rate ..."

I'll continue holding GIGM.

David Randolph

GIGM went down 6.2% yesterday as people sold everything, good or bad. Technically the stock touched the $10.94 horizontal support and bounced a bit. I don't think it will fall much more from this level, because the fundamental value is a lot higher in my view. Also the QQQQ had a very, very strong reversal candlestick and I remain a long term bull in the general market.

I'll continue holding GIGM for the long term, despite the setback.

Thanks for those estimates kpunarc :)

So, GIGM is now trading at 12.6 times 2008 estimated EPS? And that $0.87 EPS estimate seems to low to me. A company growing revenues by more than 100% a year and trades at 12.6 times forward earnings? Can't be. But it is!

Yes, it is, but the market is inefficient, that's why we're allowed to profit.

The market doesn't know the future, and GIGM is trading at a deep discount when we consider its fundamental trends and prospects. No economic slowdown of any shape can harm GIGM in my view, only the law could harm it. But I don't think that's going to happen in Europe or SouthEast Asia, there's more likelihood of the US changing its law than the other way around, in my view.

I'll keep holding GIGM, despite the short term weakness ... this has happened in the past too (for example, between May and June 2006 GIGM fell 42%), and the stock is still up five fold in two years or so. Today's potential from a fundamental standpoint is as high as it has ever been.

Thanks for posting the news on GIGM kpunarc :)

I really can't explain why GIGM was down so much over the short term and I believe the second quarter earnings will positively surprise most people, because, as we've been discussing, many people think there will be a sequential revenue decline and clearly that won't be the case.

GIGM is now trading at 12.5 times 2008 EPS estimate, which is an insult for a company growing revenues and profits by about 100% a year.

I don't care what the market thinks, I think by myself and see GIGM at $50 plus in late 2009 and I'll keep on holding the stock with strong hands.

David Randolph

Another down day for GIGM ... I can't wait for the 2nd quarter results, to see if they stop the bleeding and start putting the stock where it should be, certainly above $20.

GIGM is now trading at 12.3 times 2008 estimated EPS, but I think the company will probably earn more than the average estimate of $0.87 EPS in 2008.

I'll keep holding GIGM.
