Nice to have you back in, ksl.  It seems we've had some nice luck together on these puppies.

I think the solars have withstood this whiplash in the markets very well.  I believe they are ready to make new highs.  The charts have looked ugly at times and I've been confident I will be able to get some super cheap shares, but it just doesn't seem that way now.  The shorts can't bring them down for long.

I predict a bullish day for solars tomorrow with many leaders making new highs.  Surprising FSLR, I believe the leading indicator for all other solars, was up today while everything else was down...  When FSLR makes new all time highs it should drag the rest of the sector higher.

btw, did you see the ESLR news afterhours?  It is up 20% after hours to 18 after closing the day at $15.11.  They signed a supply agreement guaranteeing their silicon supplies for all of the next 4 or 5 years, including polysilicon for production of 500 mw in 2012.  Pretty impressive...?  I believe, I am not certain, but I believe ESLR is trading at all time highs..max chart on yahoo it doesn't look like ESLR has ever been above $18.  It could be a big runner tomorrow..

bjc...that ESLR contract should help out the solars tomorrow.
I bought CSIQ because I think it's the cheapest of the solars right now...but I got to say that SOLF chart is looking very good  and as long as the market doesn't tank tomorrow...it should run. ;)

bjc

Yeah, CSIQ is a gem.  Its still hard for me to believe CSIQ's mkt cap is just $627m compared to some of the others when CSIQ had Q3 revenues of $97m.  I guess the street still doesn't truly believe they can turn this impressive top line into big time #s on the bottom line.

I think CSIQ has about 1/3 the production capacity of STP and STP trades at a market cap. of $12b.  I mean I understand they will achieve economies of scale and this and that and they deserve a higher valuation, but come on.  About 20x the market cap?

CSIQ hasn't even seen the stupid ridiculous volume or a really huge move yet...if the solars are up tomorrow, CSIQ's all time high is not far off at 24.83.  We could have a huge day, people may be starting to realize CSIQ has been one of the best performers relative to the sector in the past month or so.

This diatribe will end soon.

Furthermore, if CSIQ can deliver an EPS # above the $0.22 expected from analysts, thats when the stock will really take off, imo.  I think we melt up higher until the next ER.  I think a lot of shares are in hands that want to hold on and see what happens with the rest of this story.  This has been a pretty tight consolidation considering the size of the move....I don't think anybody wants to sell.

And I haven't heard much talk about consolidation in the industry yet, but I think CSIQ would be a pretty tasty candidate for a big guy..STP could gobble them up, even paying a huge premium, and increase their capacity by a significant quantity for a small price.  Just a thought.  I'd rather this didn't happen as I believe the gains we can realize solely as CSIQ are more significant.

Solars are ROLLING.

Especially JASO.  Watch out for some new all time highs in a lot of them...FSLR STP JASO all close.

I think you mean solars are rolling over...Ha...ha.. :D

Solar stocks are down probably because of the energy bill and lack of solar incentives in it...which really is the wrong reason for many of the solar stocks to be down.  In the end it won't matter for CSIQ.  CSIQ is making money and gaining contracts without the U.S. governments help.

However...CSIQ looks quite bearish right now. :-\  Wait for the drop to stop and consolidation to commence.  This might take a little while.   I'm going to be patient here...with regard to buying the second half of my position.

bjc

Yeah, I'm an investor so I'm willing to hold.

I'm not concerned about the short term situation, CSIQ deserves to be a $50 + stock..

Every stock I have is completely unrelated to the U.S. Economy (other than maybe CF) yet they are all getting whacked.  Lots of great buying opportunites, IMO.

It's looking really good here.  CSIQ is the hottest today of the solar sector. ;D

kslifka

Great close. :o

I love the volume...and holding above the 9ema.  Gotta admit yesterday made me nervous...but CSIQ is the cheapest...profitable China Solar stocks.

Shorts got creamed on CSIQ. :D

bjc

CSIQ has held above the support line ksl drew tremendously well.

The fundamentals continue to drive CSIQ higher.  Unless the numbers we've been presented with are bogus as I've seen suggested by some yahoos on the Yahoo message board, then I think CSIQ will continue to rise.  I may let go of half around upper 20s, I'm sure we will hit a temporary wall at $30.

We'll see if CSIQ can continue to hold $25 if the market / solars have trouble tomorrow.  CSIQ has started to get the attention...and fundamental investors will be happy to pay for these still relatively cheap shares.

The shares seem to be in safer and safer hands, therefore the available shares decrease more and more and the fuel for a rally is more explosive.  And there's shorts who short it just because it has gone up.

kslifka

On the move again today.   ;D

bjc

Yeah, I love this stock.  CSIQ is up over $2 trying to break through $28.

Best value in the sector, this isn't bogus as some may be convinced.  Shorts are getting bankrupted and I love it.  Ignorance is bliss.

nutsterrt

These solar plays amaze me...from the big to the small, they've all been unstoppable  :o

Well played bjc; keep a stop on 'em!

bjc

ksl brought this story to 3sof.  many applauds to him...

I'd put a stop on but I don't know if I want to get stopped out.  I'm willing to hold back into the lower 20s, although I'll wish I had sold to buy back lower.  But I'm willing to hold..

BigSully1

Ol prices are on the rise again. And precious metals.

bjc

I sold 1/6 at 30.80 and 1/6 at 30.49.

I want to hold on to the bulk of my position but I think these babies need a breather...
