Haha In my mind diversifying pennies is holding 2-4 penny stocks at a time  :'(. I however am taking a liking to starting off with lets say 500-1000$USD increments. Today I started off with 500$ of blyc I bought 2 days ago. Bought another $500 on a mini dip today once I saw momentum looked in my favor. Then on third dip bought another $500 worth. Where else can you flip your cash in a day other then pennies. I prefer doing that opposed to balls to the wall all in penny purchases. For some reason I am holding overnight though after that run. I hope I made the right decision. Guess I will find out around 9:30am tomorrow  >:D. Heh anyway the moral of this story is to say I am down 25% on a small stake in ARET. It never pushed forward enough for me to buy more. Days like this on other stocks allow you to hold this to break even or who knows even a profit opposed to a panic sell due to your overstaking in one from the beginning.

I'm in the same boat with blyc...played it a little differently though.  Went in first at .0032, and then again at .0066....debated selling all of it at close today but I chickened out as it was rebounding towards the very end of the day.  I just really hope it doesn't tank miserably in the morning.  I will be watching it closely and will be ready to push the panic button.

I am glad I held.  I held all my oil stocks, even though we had a drop.  But the bottom line is oil is never going to go below $40 a barrel. I think for a long time.  The bubble is here to stay. They said the housing bubble was going to be over soon.  Not likely.

ARET a sub. of COG.  Then  I find CNBC is recomending COG to be hot in July.  Looks like a great connection to me.

StockScouter's top picks for July
Energy is once again well represented in the list, while home builders are also expected to be hot in July.

StockScouter, MSN Money's proprietary stock ranking system, beat the overall market in June. Its top picks rose about 5%, compared to a flat S&P 500 index and a 2% drop in the Dow Jones Industrial Average.

Not surprisingly two hot sectors -- housing and energy -- have a host of stocks on the list. Noble Energy (NOB, news, msgs) and Cabot Oil & Gas (COG, news, msgs) garner top ratings of 10 as do home builders Hovnanian Enterprises (HOV, news, msgs) and Toll Brothers (TOL, news, msgs).

Arete Industries, Inc. Sets Record Date for Dividend-Spin-off of Oil and Gas Subsidiary
Wednesday July 13, 11:18 am ET
Company Takes the First Step of its Restructure Strategy to Make Colorado Oil and Gas, Inc. an Independent Public Company

NIWOT, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 13, 2005--Arete Industries, Inc. (OTCBB:ARET - News) today declared a stock dividend of a portion of its holdings in its Colorado Oil and Gas, Inc. (COG) subsidiary as the first step to its Restructure Strategy. The Board of Directors met on July 12, 2005, with the members of its Restructure Strategy Committee to take action on its recommendations, setting September 2, 2005, as the record date for the stock dividend. The dividend spin-off is the first step in the Company's proposed restructuring plan announced on June 29, 2005.

Bill Stewart, the CEO, President and a Director of COG, and an officer and director of Arete, laid out its funding, development, and long-term business plan to the Company's Board of Directors. As part of the plan it was determined that COG is ready to take the next step toward becoming a fully independent, operating oil and gas company by separating from its parent company. The Board evaluated the Committee's recommendations, considered the rules regarding spin-offs, and determined that COG was qualified to be spun-off at this time.

Under this first phase of its Restructuring Plan, Arete Industries, Inc. will retain five percent of its 850,000 common shares of COG and the remaining shares would be distributed to the Arete shareholders holding shares as of the Record Date, on a pro rata basis. Final details of the spin-off dividend plan will be forthcoming in the next few weeks. Preliminarily, depending on several factors including the number of shares outstanding on the Record Date, Arete shareholders will receive one share of COG for approximately every 300 shares of Arete Industries, Inc. they own as of the Record Date. The board has declared the dividend and set the September 2, 2005, Record Date to allow for timely preparation of required disclosures and performing procedures necessary to complete the dividend spin-off in accordance with state and federal regulations. The dividend spin-off is not contingent upon COG closing its proposed purchase of the 13 Well Project, but will require certain governmental filings and approvals. Under the first step of the Plan, COG will be required to distribute certain information to the Arete shareholders that are qualified to receive the COG shares in the dividend. After the spin-off COG will file a registration statement covering the shares being distributed in the dividend and as required under its current proposed financing. COG expects to file the registration statement with the SEC in the fourth quarter of 2005.

Charles Gamber, interim CEO and Director of the Company, stated that: "The Committee has done a great job bringing forth this first stage of our Restructuring Plan. We will now direct our focus toward developing a sustainable business plan for the Company in its own right, finishing our launch of COG and determining the future of our Aggression Sports, subsidiary. We have great expectations for our next phase which we hope to be complete and ready for full board review within the next two weeks

Just wondering if anyone is holding this stock...as I am ...again..at the high of .02.

This stock has been steadiliy going downhill...just wondering if the news listed above from july 14th regarding the dividend spin-off date set for sept 2nd is something I should hold out for.

Not sure if this is going to continue to plummet anyway or if i should hang on for a couple more weeks.

There was also more news on July 18th regarding the President and Directors resignation.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.  :D

Last news:

Arete Industries, Inc. (OTCBB: ARET) announced today that Thomas P Raabe, President and Director has resigned effective July 18, 2005.

Mr. Raabe stated that the board of directors' vision and plans for the future conflicted with his vision for the Company and that his leadership had become ineffective. The Company does not currently plan to replace the position of President but is searching for an additional independent board of director member. John Herzog was also named as interim Chief Financial Officer and will continue as a director and member of the restructure committee.

Charles Gamber, Director and CEO of Arete Industries, Inc., stated: "We are going to continue with our restructure plans. Mr. Raabe will continue as President of Aggression Sports, Inc. and has hopes of completing the plan he has begun there. We plan to continue to build the future for the Company and its shareholders."

thanks very much,

Julia, been watching it for sometime, waiting for a better sense of it bottoming.  Volume is continuing to shrink, so sellers are drying up, but we don't see the buying flow come in.  It broke thru its 50 day MA and appears headed for the 200 day.  Will continue to watch, but I don't think I would pull the trigger quite yet.

gmarc66

Hi atalltexan,
