Question: I've seen this a few times in the last month or so, where just before or after the close, the price for AOB drops about a dollar. For example, on Friday Yahoo showed AOB closing at 4.30. But AH the Real Time ECN price on Yahoo showed 3.33. Who's doing that and how?

do u guys think cramers take on chinese bio tech stocks on Friday will have any effect on AOB. Cramer basically said not to trust and trade any chinese bio-engineering stock like TBV ehich is in the same business as AOB

valueseeker

Cramer pumped CMED (chinese biotech) big time. Long term there is no effect of what he says.

You can make investing a geometrical exercise or an intellectual challenge. The geometrical approach might short-term be more profitable but the intellectual approach seems to build long-term wealth and is a hell of a lot more fun.

I often read posts build on the same skeleton with different flavors:
QuoteThe stock showed weakness so I bought (or sold) the stock is down x% after I sold (up x% in case of a buy).

The same buyer (or seller) turn around a couple of day s later. The only thing that they have in common is that they always earn money whether the stocks goes up, down or sideways. (We have a few noticeable exceptions on this board with a different flavor like David, eliteG etc.).

My experience after 20 years or so investing is that if you are long the most profitable investment strategy is to invest in fundamentally great stocks that are fundamentally undervalued.

AOB is an example of such a stock:

  • They are in one of the world largest health markets (and the fastest growing!)
  • They are rapidly expanding their distribution network
  • The privatization policy of the Chinese Government offers unique acquisitions opportunities (these guys have been in the bed with the Government for years!)

The revenue and profit growth is the best proof of the unique opportunity that AOB offers the intellectual investor.

But AOB is not the only option out there.

  • You have stocks that are growing very fast and still have a dividend yield of close to 20% (NFI)
  • You have stocks that are doubling there profit and are still trading at a PE below 8 (STX)
  • You have stocks that are not able to meet the demand for their products to the extent that their customers are willing to finance the expansion of their production capacity and still trade below 12 times there TTM earnings (KOMG)
  • You have stocks that is in one of the fastest growing markets in the world that continues to publish new deals with major players in the market and still trades at a forward PE below 14
  • You have companies that seems to have broken the holly grail of medical science and the stock price is dropping in the process (DNDN, CTE)
  • You have companies that drastically have changed their business model and are growing their profit accordingly but is still trading at a forward PE of 20

All of these companies have one or more things in common:

  • A huge short position
  • Negative ratings from analysts
  • A geometrical challenging chart
  • Are extremely overbought

And according to my opinion a huge upside.

At different pointS in time investors in the following companies have been through the same challenging times: CSCO, MSFT, GE, AOL, EBAY etc. The truth is that all great companies has had periodes where the short community are betting against them, when the chart is weak, when the analysts turn sour, when they go down just because they are overbought. The intellectual challenge is to buy great companies when this happens.

updated AOB chart

I had sold most of my AOB shares during the last drawback.  Still hold about 1/4 of my original position and am considering purchasing some more shares here since we are @ new 52wk high.

However,  I have serious concerns about  purchasing any Chinese equities at this time due to the bird flu scare.  If Avian Flu breaks out in Asia, these stocks will get hurt.  Alot of my current Chinese equities have already been hit pretty hard due to, I believe, bird flu.  Does anyone else feel this way?
