As you said we've had these news from HYRF.OB yesterday after the close: HydroFlo Announces Net Income of Over $18 million for Fiscal Year 2005

This is a profit of $0.52 per share, but not so fast, this profit would only occur if they sold their companies at a value that an independent auditor thinks is the fair value of the companies that HYRF.OB owns. These are investment gains. Those investment gains may continue to grow in the future.

I started reading their 10-Q but I really don't have time to read it all before the opening bell and I still need to update other holdings of the 3 Pennies on Fire and send the newsletter.

Let's see, nothing has changed with HYRF.OB, but this press release may bring insane buying to the stock today. The technical target of the breakout we've had on the 4th of October is $1.06-$0.485 = $0.575 + $1.06 = $1.635. That would mean a 783% profit from my buying point.

I feel that's not enough for what this company is worth. Though decisions ... say, if HYRF.OB turns out to be a 10 bagger for me today because of this PR related buying, I'll take profits and re-analyze. For that HYRF.OB would need to trade at $1.85 today, a 58% rise.

Yes, maybe this is a good selling point, as the stock approaches that $2.10 price target, remember? Maybe people will be afraid of buying it when it is close to a 12 month target ...

So, without complete information and sitting on huge profits, I choose to take profits at $1.85 today if I have that chance.

Looks like sell the news, again!!

My first buy at $0.97 (limit order) for 5K shares. I always buy at pull back and at the support of ascending trendline.

If the stock gap up and continued going up, I just gave up and forgot it.

It may drop further but with the good fundamental, not much downsite risk.

Will double it if it goes down to $0.50. Candlestick pattern says SELL .

Down on good news and profit taking.

remember that UTEK has a sizable postion and I believe(I do not know) is looking to exit.. They sold just 3 weeks ago a portion at .65 average.. The size of bids asks says to me that its a large holder of stock. Just a guess but I have a good idea how these companies sell stock with no emotion..

Madge20 there is no doubt in my mind that you have this one nailed. Applause to you. UTEK appears to be selling into this move and this, in my mind is neither good nor bad. There is really no way of knowing why these people sell when the fundamentals of these stocks are so strong. Just look at BRVO for a textbook example of this phenomenon. God knows UTEK have a tidy profit on their hands, so apparently they have decided to take some off the table. If we were in their spot, I'm sure we would probably be doing the same. All the best.

Irishman.. I just got some new info also..  HYRF has a confidentiality clause as it relates to disclosing to the public any information about their contracts.. which means that we will never know if their is a penalty to CEICC or not if they cancel their contract with Marti for any reason or reasons.. If CEICC would cancel their contract, then HYRF would be required to report any material info on a 10Q if they received any Sum of money for cancellation. This uncertainty menas that if CODE BLUE is successful the stock is considerably undervalued... but also creates insecurity possibly for some..  And dont forget we have 3 more companies in the portfolio at present that have little if anything to do with the net asset value  AT THIS TIME.
Short term I have no clue altough my guess would be more of the same ..pullbacks with an upward bias.. Long term I think we have a wonderful investment!

Good luck to U2 and the rest of the longs    ;) ;D

Anyone got any idea what's going on with HYRF???

Another heavy drop this morning, which broke our ascending trendline - I don't get how it could lose more than 30% from their earnings release!!  It seems to be holding .93 for now, but that is not very good IMO. - OK just checked and we're up to .96, but still...

Any ideas?

Judging from the high volume, Friday was the shakeout as traders exited their positions on the news (I mean, c'mon, the gains have been incredible!).  Today there is another down day... BUT notice how the volume is drying up today.  I take this as a good sign... in fact, if it were high volume I would exit today.  But I believe that all is okay and these are the final traders wanting to cash out their gains after seeing that "it's down again."

It remains to be seen whether HYRF will drift down slowly on low volume and become a dull stock for a while, or if this is a shakeout of one wave of traders.  My suspicion is it's the later, and that it will resume its uptrend at a more moderate pace within a month.  Disclosure: I must admit I cashed out half of my position around $1.10... but I am still holding half, and I think I will hang on to it for a while!

I think you nailed the answer to what is going on with the stock.  HYRF issued a BS press release about earnings per share when in fact the 10-Q still shows that HYRF did not even have revenues much less earnings.  What HYRF really said in the 10-Q is that life is good and we are going to say that we are worth more.  That probably disheartened some investors and certainly could encourage some profit taking.  Real companies with real sales do not try to play the shell game when commenting on a 10-Q, and it had me lightening my position and taking profits in a hurry.

David, your analysis here would be very much appreciated, or perhaps just a little confidence booster  :-\

Friday had me worried, but I didn't sell, and today has got me really worried ( I still didn't sell - one of those, it can't go any lower, oh it just did days).  I suppose my problem is that becasue of gains made in HYRF, it now represents a disproportionately large amount of my portfolio, so that despite excellent moves in some of my other stocks, todays drift in HYRF [oops - edit: wrong stock :D] totally wiped out my overall gains.

Now I know that the obvious option is to just take some profits, or alternatively close my eyes and wait for 3 months, but todays drop broke through every ascending trendline you can draw, and I see next support at .79.  But yet I'm still optimistic - a fool?  Perhaps...  maybe I just need to calm down and not get attatched, HYRF has held me up when everything else has been going to the dogs, maybe now its just the other way round...

HYRF will never report revenues, because it is set up as a Business Development Company. From their annual report . "Effective March 4, 2004, we converted to a Business Development Company under the Investment Company Act of 1940. Upon completion of this conversion, we became an internally managed, diversified, closed-end investment company." Earnings will be based on changes in the NAV. The hydroflo subsidary will have revenues, but HYRF will not, it will always be based on its net asset value. Eventually, as the companies grow in value the NAV will grow and maybe down the road, they will spin off some the companies.
