Nice chart fousc!

logocovet, here's the link for Lycos I-watch.  It defaults to 1 day, so change the time period to 1 week or 1 month to get the historical Institutional activity.

QuoteAnother day of Institutional/money managers accumulating.  There was some "sell request" activity but none of them actually ended up selling.  Probably waiting to see how good/bad was the conference call/Bio Investor Forum presentation outcomes. (Light blue or pink indicators are "requests" only.  Solid blue and red are actual buy/sell executions).

The I-Watch institutional data is interesting so appluad for sharing that data LiveLife. Just a word of caution though for others considering that data, the institutional buys (that are tracked) only constitute 1% to 3% of the overall volume for the period concerned (for the NVAX example, it will be different for other stocks).

Good Luck

Thank you AussieTrader and Frederick.

And yes, AussieTrader, I mentioned the small percentage of Institutional representation in the past posts (way back).  I'll post that fact with the corresponding pie chart again later after work.  The percentage of Institutional activity DOES fluctuate day by day, but the trend as a whole, the buy/sell activity of larger money manager (which I believe is the bulk of the activity any way) is still very interesting to observe.

NVAX keeps setting records and milestones each day.  After being week/month volume leader, now first in ranking for increased institutional activity:

A "pennant" formation along with heavy accumulation this week hints to an almost certain breakout next week (if not Friday) resembling HOM's recent breakout after a similar chart pattern. This new breakout should surpass $4 and move NVAX into new highs within a 7-month timeframe. StockCharts.com gives NVAX a new bullish target of $8.50. Another VPHM in the making? Only time and patience will tell. My [2] cents.

I see we got some positive news for NVAX and all the great info on this thread, my thanks and applause's for that  :)

I spent some time reading the last 10-Q from the company and I found one more of those medium size biotech companies, burning a lot of cash. Since the company was incorporated in 1987 and is publicly traded since 1995, it is just about time to start selling some and delivering profits !

The Avian Flu mania may make NVAX rise like a rocket, because at this point it doesn't really matter if anything bad is going to happen or not, governments from developed countries around the world are committed to buy vaccines just as an insurance policy, as you can read on the article above.

The more I read the more I get confused and my business isn't knowing every aspect of trials and medicines, my business is speculation.

As a speculator I know at least one thing: the trend is my friend. For NVAX the ascending trend is defined by TL2 on the chart below. TL2 rises $0.07 per trading day and tomorrow it will be standing at $2.56.

I will hold NVAX for as long as it closes above TL2.

As a matter of fact, I've been thinking for some weeks now and I may change my strategy a bit, not only holding stocks for as long as they have an ascending trend, but also add to my position on every support touch. Something to think better over the coming days, because this would increase the risk of the overall portfolio.

Thanks for the link Livelife.  It is impressive, but LYCO's also says that institutions only account for 1% of the volume.  Should we put very much weight on it?

NVAX didn't dip far enough for me to get in today.  Waiting for $3 or under (lets hope).  NVAX showed relative strength compared to the sector (SVA, HEB, BCRX, GNBT).  I do  think institutional accumulation has a part in this.  I stopped out of my EMFP position as it dropped by more than 20% today.

The bird flu story is far from over.  It definately seems that news of outbreaks in Europe is the greatest mover of sector stock prices.  News came out yesterday that China admitted to a new bird flu outbreak and SVA dropped both yesterday and today.  Today, news came out about a death in Thailand that could be human to human transmission yet volume in the sector was low. (unfortunately, investors seem to care little about Asia).

I think the real gains in the sector will come with flu season in the U.S.  This is when real panic will begin as the possibility of mutation grows.
