I'm getting dizzy  :o

So if you sold, would you buy now at these lofty heights on this volume or hope for a pull back to the trendline.

Still learning,  Mike

I'm long on NVAX. The stock is just ridiculously bullish, but after today's 30%+ run-up today, th chart looks pretty parabolic and I'm tempted to sell a bit and buy back after a small correction. What do ya'll think?

Hey, I'm not great at this trading stuff ... what do I do - hold on or sell?

Well, David's target on this one is above $10, so if you are following his trading plan you should hold it ;)

Okay-- TA people. I'm a newbie.

So a question for you: what does TA tell us to do / look for given this afternoon's runup?

(we all knew it was a great stock, but wow)

I see no technical signal to sell NVAX yet... But that depends on your time frame.
I just see this stock gaining momentum over increasing (huge) volume...

WOW! what a day to be holding NVAX, i dont think any of us saw this coming. Price action broke through all my anticipated resistence barriers. Ill continue to hold NVAX, though i feel a strong retracement is coming, I feel the bird flu is just in its initial workings of spreading accross the world, sadly only more bad news is to come in the future which will benefit our stock prices. I'm following Daves plan on this one to hold as long as it closes above the ascending trendline.

Novavax Shares Surge on Bird Flu Fears
Tuesday October 25, 4:24 pm ET
Novavax Shares Surge on Second Straight Day After Confirmed Cases of Bird Flu Outside Asia

NEW YORK (AP) -- Shares of biotech company Novavax Inc. surged for the second consecutive day Tuesday, following a weekend where the avian flu virus H5N1 was identified in birds in Turkey, Romania and Russia and a dead parrot imported to Britain from South America was found to have been carrying the virus.
Novavax shares jumped $1.38, or 33 percent, to close at $5.53 on the Nasdaq, after reaching a new 52-week high of $5.88, at nearly 12 times their average volume. Shares closed up 10 percent on Monday, and started surging in August from a 52-week low of 70 cents, when the company presented animal data showing their vaccine could protect animals against avian flu.

Share prices edged slightly in after-market activity, down 7 cents to $5.46.

The company also announced in September that it would collaborate with Somerset, N.J.-based Wave Biotech to try to develop a way to produce its Virus-Like Particle avian flu vaccine on a commercial scale. The VLP imitates a virus to elicit an immune response, but cannot infect cells because it lacks the genetic material of a virus, unlike standard vaccines.

In an investor note on Friday, RBC Capital Markets analyst Ken Trbovich upgraded Novavax to "Sector Perform" from "Underperform" and raised his target price to $3 from $1, after the company received a recent $12.5 million license and supply agreement from Esprit Pharma for the Estrasorb topical estrogen therapy.

However, the analyst also noted that fears of avian flu could focus attention on the VLP technology, which could possibly create quick versions of vaccines for mutated flu strains.

As evidenced in last year's flu vaccine shortages in the United States, vaccine-making suffers from the drawback of long ramp-up times, where the product must be incubated over months at a time using century-old chicken egg-based technology.

"If the company can be in human testing of the vaccine in early 2006, they will likely attract additional attention from the U.S. government or prospective partners," Trbovich told investors. "A partnership or significant U.S. government grant would additionally bolster our confidence in the program and NVAX's cash reserves. We believe that the media and political fervor surrounding avian flu will likely increase as we move farther into traditional flu season."

fousc, "rediculous" is spelled "ridiculous" with an "i"... NVAX IS RIDICULOUS!  :D

rickjust

the reason why Aussie's chart is different than yours is because his periodicy for the chart is weekly, not daily. Here is an example of a weekly chart with the price action near the 200 EMA.

Another nice day for NVAX!!!  WOW!!!
$1.38 (33.25%) gain with 51 million shares traded!!! 51 million!

After morning's early "brief" profit taking, NVAX started its steady climb like yesterday, and =BAM=, it shot up!!!  The afternoon spike blew past my target of $4.50 - $5.00 and hit $5.88!!! setting another 52 week high!  of $5.53!!!  Oh My!  Yes, my sell button was still broken today. :D

My wife, looking at the early morning volume agreed not to sell  ;)

As I posted this morning before market open, my theory was once the profit taking was done, the buyers who missed out on Monday's gain started to "trickle" in, probably at market buy!  With still very strong "BUY" interest in NVAX, buyers that are just finding out about NVAX (alerts, reports, news, etc.) and buyers that's been waiting for their bank transfers to show on their trade account probably jumped in at any price in fear of "spiking gains in price to $5+"  And it happened today!

I saw a block sell and LARGE block buy on Lycos this morning, but they seem to be having problem posting their Institutional/money manager buy/sell activity tonight.  I'll post as soon as they have it up (Yes, I did check other stock symbols to see if nobody bought/sold)  ;)

If NVAX was a blip on the radar, we were a green beacon last week.  Today, NVAX was a mega-ton neutron bomb that lit up the entire market and sent shock waves and rumbles to brokerage houses and investment offices!  Yes!!!

Having broken through the 200 MA with already an analyst upgrade, I believe more analysts upgrades are on their way if NVAX continues its current performance, and performance it was today!!!

I am sure today was a spectacular day for the day traders!  For swing traders that sold on yesterday's high, today's morning buy in would have resulted in a sweeeeeet gain!

For longs, the comfortable couches and recliners must be awefully "comfy" with a cold beer or an iced tea!  And the shorts?  my condolenses... :'(

So, where to now?  "With spectacular gains, come spectacular profit taking"  I must caution that this celebration must be followed with a very careful watch of activity tomorrow.

However, with today's "stellar" gains and volume activity, NVAX will attract many more buyers willing to buy in light of ongoing Avian bird news, tomorrow's CEO presentation at Life Science Conference in New York (Novavax sure knows how to promote and spread the word!  ;)), and two more product release in about a week!  And don't forget the release of Newsweek with "BIRD FLU" cover!!!

Tomorrow also looks very interesting and exciting!

Good trading!

QuoteI'll buy NVAX back if it can clear this resistance on continued volume as all indicators are still in buy mode.

Well I would have bought back if I wasn't in bed with a perforated ear drum :o

Great action on NVAX and volume is outstanding, talk about confirmation on the breakout.

So I am out of NVAX and missed a great rise, but c'est la vie, that is trading can't worry about what was missed.

Well done to all in NVAX, interesting week shaping up
