"Today, NVAX was a mega-ton neutron bomb that lit up the entire market and sent shock waves and rumbles to brokerage houses and investment offices." -- LiveLife

That just about sums up today's performance doesn't it?  ;)

But even that's an understatement of NVAX's potentials! NVAX still got a longs way to go. News keep coming, it'll keep chuggin. Don't forget we still have the regular flu season coming up.  ::)

Hey ljtoomey!

Welcome to 3SOF!!!

I can't take all the credit.  Other than my "ramblings" I just repost what posters at Yahoo MB post.  It's a community effort.  NVAX is one example!

The real thanks goes to David Randolph and Frederick Ramsburg who dedicated this website to us "retail" traders!  = THANKS A LOT =

Don't forget tomorrow's CEO presentation at Life Sciences Conference in New York!

Good trading!

= Important alert for US taxpayers! =

For those realizing several thousands of dollars of gain from NVAX, consider this.

If you do not have a Roth IRA account, open one when you take profit (better yet, open one now - you can open a Roth IRA account with Scottrade with almost nothing!).  I believe current year cap is $4,000/person and $8,000/married couple.

Buy back shares of NVAX (always on dips) ;) with your Roth IRA funded and all of your gains will be TAX FREE when you withdraw at 59!!!

Think, TAX FREE GROWTH and TAX FREE WITHDRAWL!!!

Thanks esschust for Yahoo Roth IRA link!  http://taxes.yahoo.com/guide/rothira/

Also, you can open Roth IRA for your children, family, friends, yes even shorts and bashers  ;) as long as they have "taxable" income for the year. ;)

I am opening a Roth IRA for my brother who just graduated from college.  He'll have more than a few millions by the time he reaches the withdrawl age (yes, you can withdraw all at once!!!).

See you at retirement!!!

Good Roth IRA trading too!

Here's another very interesting news that's making me ponder:

Thanks gunboat1919 for the link!

http://www.pharmtech.com/pharmtech/data/articlestandard/pharmtech/362005/178583/article.pdf

With Avian H5N1 growing resistant to Roche's Tamiflu, Relenza (made by GlaxoSmithKline) is the only current "effective treatment" for the Avian flu.  Clinically, Relenza is more effective than Tamiflu.

If the article's claim is true, then it's something we need to monitor on Thursday's Press Release by GlaxoSmithKline.

I wonder if GlaxoSmithKline is the company that got UK's "Sleeping Contract" for Avian vaccine?  GlaxoSmithKline already received a modest $2.8 million US HHS contract for 84,300 treatment courses of Relenza, but as the chart shows below, not much has happened since the September 15, 2005 contract award date.

Second link indicates that as Avian "human" vaccines approach the production stage, companies are facing problems with not being able to produce "enough" doses of vaccine fast enough.  Each year, flu vaccines must be re-made using the flu strains of the previous year, as annual flu virus seems to not stay the same.  This annual run of vaccine production will not be adequate to meet the potential demands.

More reasons to listen to Novavax CEO presentation tomorrow at Life Sciences Conference in New York as to what Novavax's update on Avian is.

VACCINE PLEDGE FOR UK
By Emily Nash

DRUGS giant GlaxoSmithKline could produce millions of doses of vaccine within months of a bird flu outbreak.

Once the strain was identified it would take one month to create the vaccine and a further three to four months to make it available for use.

The firm will announce this on Thursday. The Government is asking several vaccine manufacturers to draw up plans on how to meet demand after a virus strain is identified.

Glaxo already makes a drug, Relenza, that could be used to treat the symptoms of bird flu. It is a medicine that you inhale. Plans to vaccinate everyone in the UK against pandemic flu if a potentially fatal strain emerges were announced by the Government last week.

Chief Medical Officer Sir Liam Donaldson said that 120million doses - the equivalent of two for every person - would be needed to cover the UK population

What a beast NVAX is! Traded more than its entire float today! I missed the entire ride up  :-\ but I am hoping to catch this elevator on the way down. I'm surprised SVA didn't get any of the the action.

I confess I'm about as worried about bird flu as I am about cat flu, dog flu, or mad cow flu. But when the momo players go nuts in sector, you just hafta try and grab a piece of the action one way or another.

btw for those of you who need a Halloween costume idea, here's one: The Bird Flu. Make a beak to wear on your face, some chicken feet to strap on your shoes, put a thermometer in your mouth and an icebag on your head, and voila you're the bird flu.
GO IN THAT HOUSE OF PAIN THAT YOU SEEM TO WANT TO BE IN, BUT GET AWAY FROM ME.  I'M TRYING TO WORK, DAMMIT.

Thanks for all the suggestions for the 3 SOF service and the analysis on NVAX  :)

We'll be making some changes to our business model soon in a way that I think will please everybody on the Premium Service.

Considering NVAX, it's rise turned parabolic. Everyday the newspapers and TV's talk about new bird flu cases across Europe, but, as I said, even if nothing happens the companies well positioned will sell a lot, because governments and people worldwide want protection against the disease.

The stocks's rise turned parabolic. This means the advance will be fast and furious and when it's over the stock will possibly come down to levels below where everything started (possibly not, because of that estrasorb development - this is why NVAX is the best bird flu stock to own now).

Shorts are already kicking in, but I think that will only add fire to the ongoing bullish speculation.

Given this situation, my take on NVAX is as follows:

- Forget trading based on a trendline. Price completely got way from past levels, and if we waited for a trendline break to sell, a big chunk of profits would be lost.
- Forget about buying on a big pullback. The stock will probably continue to rise until it finds it's peak and when it turns south it won't turn north again (in major trend terms, it may have minor, not tradable, pullbacks). You either have the courage to buy high to sell higher or stay away from this speculative game.

So, what to do now?

Close my eyes and hold, whatever happens. Having a big profit isn't a reason to sell, not when momentum is rising (momentum is the speed of the advance). Momentum will probably decline before the price does.

I will add a new indicator to my chart, my favorite momentum indicator, the Rate of Change (ROC).

I have a target on the closing of a gap over the long term chart, which is $10.56, but this doesn't mean much. I'll keep analyzing day by day until I see «sell», the trendline is of no use in the event of a parabolic rise like the one NVAX is enjoying.

Just one more thing: a speculator needs to grab big profits when he finds these great stocks, these are the stocks that bring above average returns. A multi-bag profit in just one holding of a diversified portfolio like the 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio has a massive impact on annual and long term performance. It's not those 10 or 20% profits that will make you rich. It's the multi-bag stocks  :D

Thanks David -

I have a tendency to sell early, so yesteday I sold half my position at 5.57, keeping enougth to make me happy; The parabolic discussion is one that I always have issues with (sold VPHM early, then got back in and again sold too realy - so maybe I will learn my lesson) - but after having a double in NVAX I decided not to be greedy.

Did not re-enter HEB to my regret, and am curious why SVA is just mumbling along.

Thanks

Another good morning (good afternoon for you east of Atlantic Ocean!).  :D

The European Indexes are all GREEN!  FTSE up 34.90 (0.67%) and DAX up 6.88 (0.14%).

Since the European markets preceed the US markets, it's often an indication of US market action.  We may have a bullish day today!

I rechecked Lycos I-watch site and it does not contain data from Monday (for any stock symbol)!  :-\  So I pulled up the "week" time period instead.  Looking at the charts below, the Institutional/money managers accumulated BIG time on Friday despite the gain.  My extrapolated "newbie guess"  ;)  is that they accumulated on Monday also.

Now that NVAX is above $5, various mutual/hedge/private fund managers who has $5 restriction will now jump in.  Having broken through the 200 MA on Friday with an analyst upgrade with yesterday's "stellar" performance (I mean $1.38 (33.25%) gain for a $4.15 stock is HUGE) "NVAX was like a mega-ton neutron bomb that lit up the entire market and sent shock waves and rumbles to brokerage houses and investment offices!"

David Randolph, due to NVAX's tremendous "popularity" and sudden "break out" of traditional chart trends, now considers NVAX a very "speculative" play with huge potential for gain/loss.  For day traders and short-term swing traders (like me  ;)),  this caution should make us EXTREMELY careful about watching today's and week's activity.

For longs, "after stellar gains, follow stellar profit taking" rule will probably apply and price correction will bring NVAX down to pre "stellar" levels to resume its climb back up (those wanting to buy more shares, this pullback would be your buying opportunity).  Enjoy the comfy couches and recliners with your cold beers and iced teas!  ;)

As David stated before, Novavax is a SOLID company for non-Avian related issues.  I had a chat with my retired part-time daytrader dad yesterday and discussed that the recent Institutional/Money Manager activity are probably due to Novavax's non-Avian issues (existing Estrasorb and future product lines and $12.5 million partnership).  I do not believe that Novavax has reflected any significant Avian-related gains yet.

What we (yes including the shorts and bashers  ;)) cannot ignore is the recent NVAX performance (gain and volume activity).  These alone are something we must keep in mind, as rest of the market, in this still bearish market trend, look for a green blip or beacon of light saw a mega-ton neutron NVAX bomb go off yesterday.  Many will come and check out NVAX and may buy.

Today, I am sure will be another exciting day for NVAX!

Don't forget!  CEO will present at the Life Sciences Conference in New York at 11:00 EDT!

The live broadcast of the presentation can be accessed through Novavax website at http://www.novavax.com.

Good trading, and watch for the inevitable profit taking!

Unreal!  I too sold yesterday because of greater than 60% return and I thought too much volume.  How can the float keep turning over day after day???????????
