NVAX appears to be on life support right now. GNBT, another flu bird stock, collpased big time today. NVAX is a better investment though. GNBT is just a garbage Pump and Dump in my opinion.

Flu Frenzy Frames Biotechs' Futures

Protective Approach
Elsewhere, Novavax (NVAX:Nasdaq - commentary - research - Cramer's Take), which has a $130 million market cap, said it's focusing its resources to develop its own bird flu vaccine. Earlier this month, the company contended that it has a "compelling solution" to a pandemic and can produce large quantities of vaccine in a short period of time.

The company says a planned secondary stock offering will help fund the production, and New Jersey-based firm Wave Biotech will manufacture it.

Another tiny firm, Generex Biotechnology (GNBT:Nasdaq - commentary - research - Cramer's Take) (market cap $44 million) is looking to co-develop its avian influenza vaccine in China, and has proposed partnerships with the Harbin Veterinary Research Institute, Sinovac Biotech and Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences.

Hi, stocks2watch2.

We meet in the funniest places, don't we?  ;)

I don't know what has been happening to poor little GNBT these last few days, but it looks like heavy manipulating, does it not?

I did however take advantage of the dip to buy some more.

If GNBT will make it on the bird-flu scare I don't know - I rather like their approach to delivery of insulin - that is my main reason to hold this stock.

Let's hope that it'll do well on it's own merit, and not on some mad hype.

(By the way...I did some heavyhanded weeding out on the yahoo-board, and that made it a lot more pleasent to read!  :D )
Happy trading...

:)

Yes we do, and I gave you an applaud for using the same member name, shows me you have nothing to hide.I think we'll be ok long term on GNBT. This was a huge relief to know we will stay listed. I've also been adding on the dips. I'm betting big on this one.I think we'll see a steady increase in pps now. I like the fact that they put out lot's of PR'S.

This might help move the bird flu stocks too.

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist also said lawmakers should pass legislation by Nov. 24 to fund U.S. preparations for a possible worldwide outbreak of bird flu or some other super-influenza strain.

That timetable has important implications: President Bush has proposed stockpiling enough of the anti-flu drugs Tamiflu and Relenza for 81 million people. The nation has only enough doses for 4.3 million people in stock, and can't order more until Congress approves the money for it, said Dr. Julie Gerberding, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

"We need it now," she told a hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

It's up as I type.

I guess people are not interested in this stock anymore.

bjc

I think it's pretty obvious by the volume that plenty of people are still worried about NVAX.  Up about 15% at the moment..

2ez

What do you mean worried about the stock based on the volume  ?

bjc

Excuse me, meant to say interested in.

hi,
nvax looked good today . it posted a bearish engulfing pattern yesterday but to me it also looked like a hammer reversal even though the body is black.todays candle broke the down trend.
looks like strong support around 3, and it has bounced off the 68 fib. at 2.73, resistance at 4.
rsi turning up above 50 and volume returned, as well as the macd starting to turn bullish.
although you can see on the swing chart below it is still printing lower bottoms and lower tops.some might want to see it print above 4.15 to be safe.
if it opened lower tomorrow and pushed above todays close of 3.49 then it might be a good short term trade .
this my newbie take on the tech chart. any comments and criticism welcomed. trying to learn and this is the best place to do it.
thanks
maxi
