NVAX

Reasons: (1) Breaking out above 4, (2) Flu season with focus on bird flu, (3) Insider buying the stock, and many more reasons listed in the main thread  of 3stocksonfire.org

The company is producing vaccines with a different method than previous vaccines egg based.  The stock has been very volatile and is a potential rocket.  As we have seen lately, as speculators focus on bird flu the price per share can fly in a short period of time.  The U.S. government is now developing plans to aid in a bird flu vaccine, which might have something to do with recent moves in the stock.  In addition to the flu vaccine work, NVAX has products related to oral and transdermal dosing of estrogen.

EGHT - 8x8 Inc.

A dangerous pick, but it just has to be EGHT, after a spectacular move up over 40% today before this announcement after hours:

BellSouth Teams With 8x8, Inc. To Deliver VoIP Phone Service to Residential Customers
http://biz.yahoo.com/prnews/051209/clf055.html?.v=23

Since the announcement EGHT has gone up another 66% After hours :o :o :o
And I would expect more on Monday.  Seeing as this will be opening at a major premium it is a very speculative pick - however, as I'm able to pick my close, which could be as early as Tuesday, I'm willing to take the risk.

Additionally, if you look at the 3 year weekly chart, it has just broken out of a MAJOR triangle, with long term descending resistance holding it in check - and there are few strong areas of resistance between here and $5.  Also look at how it went from less that $2 to $8 in 5 weeks at the end of 2003 - if this news is as big for the company as it appears to be, it could produce a similar run.  Right now I have no idea where my price target is, and this could just as easily become the biggest loser of the contest, but that's what the contest is for right?  A bit of fun and a shot at the big one.

So no slow gainers for me this time, I want it big and I want it FAST >:D >:D >:D

1)   Stock Pick
ASTM - Aastrom Biosciences Inc.

Aastrom Biosciences, Inc. (NasdaqSC: ASTM) is developing patient-specific products for the repair or regeneration of human tissues, utilizing the Company's proprietary adult stem cell technology.

2)   Reason behind this pick

ASTM is a great company with big potential in the near future.  Their technology uses a fascinating idea in that it uses a person's own stem cells (from bone marrow) to treat severe bone fractures, vascular diseases, jaw bone reconstruction as well as spine fusion.  It has many clinical trials actively going on in both US and in Europe.  Soon they will be opening a manufacturing site in Europe and hoping to rake in big bucks.  This company has forcasted that news will be released soon (clinical results, IND decision, etc.)  With the vote in congress coming in early January and the news releases that are inevitable, this company will soon soar pass every analysts price target of over $4.00.  Good luck to everyone!

From a technical perspective, ASTM has just recently broke it's 50 day MA.  Although, I would like to see more volume, it does look like something ir brewing in the coming month.  Volume from the past two days has been double of what it has been in recent weeks.  Also, other stem cell stocks such as GERN, STEM, and VIAC all went up today.  I think this should be very exciting in the coming weeks.  Jaw bone reconstruction results are scheduled to be announced by the end of the calendar year (expecting positive results).  The senate will be meeting first thing next year regarding the stem cell bill that will bring more attention to the stem cell sector.  Hopefully I'm right this time!   ;D

1. Stock Pick: SIRI - Sirius Satellite Radio Inc.

2. Reason behind this pick:

Coverage initiated on Sirius Satellite by Citigroup to "Buy", with that high volume today looks like some big news is coming that will rocket SIRI to new highs.. & looking at the chart below i'm seeing a 3rd wave up in the sky before the end of this contest... :D ;D :D ;D

And one more thing, i think SIRI will be more profitable over the next year, as more subscribers will be joining ;)... Nobody want to missed out the famous Howard Stern's impending move to Sirius in early 2006... I myself planning to buy the unit & subscribe to Sirius at very cheap price. From my point of view, satellite Radio is advancing pretty quick & i have a feeling this is going to be huge in years to come... Compare iPod (Apple) & Sirius Satellite Radio <--with Sports brodcasting especially football, Howard Stern etc, etc. all in one unit detachable from your car to anywhere..

... And also, Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. the number 2 U.S. player, teamed up with closely held Standard Broadcasting Inc. and the publicly owned Canadian Broadcasting Corp. to launch Sirius Canada. (wow) that would be great, more subscribers meaning more revenue. ;) GO SIRI!!

On the second chart below, there is Inverted Head & shoulders pattern which is also a bullish sign & i think the third wave is possible ;) Just maybe, time will tell!! :D ;D :D ;D

1. Neose Technologies Inc. (Symbol: NTEC)

About the company:
"Neose is a biopharmaceutical company using its proprietary enzymatic technologies to develop improved drugs, focusing primarily on therapeutic proteins. Neose uses its GlycoAdvance® and GlycoPEGylation(TM) technologies to develop improved versions of drugs with proven safety and efficacy. Neose intends to apply its technologies to products it is developing on its own and to products it co-develops and co-owns with others. It also expects to make its technologies available, through strategic partnerships, to improve the products of other parties. Neose's first two proprietary candidates are NE-180 (GlycoPEG-EPO), a long-acting version of erythropoietin, and GlycoPEG-GCSF, a long-acting version of granulocyte colony stimulating factor (G-CSF)."

2. This is a purely technical play. It came up in my different scans several times. It might have some merit after all. It is a very speculative play but you only gain big when you risk big. I think NTEC fits that.

Technical Reasons:

On Daily:
* Improving ADX line
* Breakout of trendline
* Increasing volume

On Weekly:
* Above the BB 20 MA.
* FULL STO broke out of oversold conditions.

My Pick:     JAKKS Pacific, Inc.             JAKK (nasdaq)

"JAKKS Pacific, Inc. (JAKKS) is a multi-line, multi-brand toy company that designs, develops, produces and markets toys and related products. The Company focuses its business on acquiring or licensing trademarks and brand names with long product histories (evergreen brands). Its products typically include action figures and accessories; craft, activity and stationery products; seasonal toys and leisure products; electronics products; junior sports, and fashion and mini dolls and related accessories. JAKKS also licenses brands, such as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Nickelodeon, Rugrats, Dora the Explorer, Blue's Clues, SpongeBob SquarePants, Mickey Mouse, Winnie the Pooh, Hello Kitty and NASCAR. During the year ended December 31, 2004, JAKKS had over 4,775 products in over 21 product categories. The Company's five largest customers are Target, Kmart, Toys 'R' Us, Wal-Mart and Kay Bee Toys, which collectively accounted for approximately 65.6% of its net sales in 2004."
This is a Toy stock, a second semester of the year play.  JAKK has surpassed the estimates in 4 of the last 5 quarters and with the economy looking in good shape, I hope the sales for this time of the year will be so good. On october they announce a new line of products for pets based on the  famous Bratz doll, expected to ship to retailers nationwide on 2006.  For S. Berman COO of the company, this line of products has explosive year over year growth.  It started a beautiful trend on 10/14 and it's still going up and undervalued. The MACD looks pretty good too.  I believe this one has fuel for a while.

Keep it simple !!

My pick: EPIX

Reason: Investment in bio companies in their development stage is a highly risky business. Look at SPEX, VPHM, ELN, AXYX, ... The stocks could lose 90% of its value in one day and could gain 100% or more in another day.

EPIX is one such company. Right now, its price is at its multi-year low and the canclesticker does not give buy signal yet. For me I would like to wait until it shows a clear uptrend before taking my position.

Because this is one month stock pick contest, I just play my luck.

In the first contest, my luck is not so good. AOB was the first place among all picks after one week and gained 22%. It did have a break-out and the revenues gained 100% as expected.

But because it diluted its shares a lot and also had a private placement, it lost 20% within one month.

Let us see what will happen to EPIX one month from now.

My pick is BCON

This is a technical play. On Monday of this past week BCON broke through the descending trendline drawn on my chart below. It spent the rest of the week consolidating on lower volume. The current price is a great entry point IMO because the pps is just above the trendline now. My target for this contest is the dotted orange line at ~$2.60 which would be about a 35% gain. That should be sufficient for a top 3 finish! Other aspects of the technical picture that I like: the triple bottom formed between late October and late November with slightly higher lows each time, support found at the 200 dma, and the higher low for RSI.

About BCON:
Beacon Power Corporation, a development stage company, engages in the design, development, configuration, and sale of products and services to support electricity grid operation. The company develops alternative sustainable energy storage and power conversion solutions that provide electric power for the renewable energy, telecommunications, distributed generation, and uninterrupted power supply markets in the United States.

Thanks and GO BCON!!!!

PLUG

Plug Power has broken the descending trendline recently.

Plug has not released any contract news since July and I hope to hear some contract news soon.

Plug Power, Inc., a development stage company, engages in the design, development, and manufacture of onsite energy systems for energy consumers worldwide. Its architecture-based technology platform includes proprietary proton exchange membrane fuel cell and fuel processing technologies. The company offers GenCore product, a back-up power product for telecommunications, broadband, utility, and industrial uninterruptible power supply applications. It is also developing additional products, including a continuous power product, with optional combined heat and power capability for remote small commercial and remote residential applications; an on-site hydrogen generation product for use in various industrial gas applications; and battery-replacement modules for material handling equipment.

Ok here's my pic:

ONNN (on semi conductor)

My reasons for picking this stock are mainly technical. It has formed a cup and handle and its possibly ready for a breakout, and the MACD has turned bullish. I also believe that there is a tech rally coming in 06' specially if the economy really kicks up. Tech rallies always are the leaders when there is  a big rally on wall street and that is what I am betting on. I just hope it starts sooner than later. The stock has major support at 5.85 and little resistance above son I'm betting it goes higher and very soon here.
There's always a bull market somewhere and I promise to bla bla bla bla........

1. My Pick:  ON ASSIGNMENT INC  (Nasdaq Small Cap: ASGN)

2.  My Reason:  Since early August the stock has been in an uptrend even though the company is still not profitable.  (As Dave says, "you don't have to know why")  They provide professional temporary employees to businesses.  I'm hoping the trend remains my friend through December.

1. CTLM.......Centillium Communications, Inc.
                   Sector: Technology~~~Industry: Communications Equipment

BRIEF: For the nine months ended 30 September 2005, Centillium Communications Incorporation's revenues rose 2% to $55.8M. Net loss fell 65% to $10.9M. Revenues reflect an increase in income from VOIP due to higher unit shipments. and higher revenues from FTTP & DSL products . Pick: NMGC

Reason: Yeah, it did this Friday: +4.88 (128.42%). So won't there be some profit taking? Perhaps... but it faded away from the gap it created. And in AH lost only 3%. Great news Friday, and I expect it to rise over the next month :)

I have to go with cray   :o :o

Looking at the chart we see long trend down, then breaks out no volume, no news. I also see two gaps that have not been filled, and an arching up trend that looks ready to blast off. One other thing i noticed is that the 50 might just cross the 200 during the contest ( main reason i put in contest ) . I ( imo ) think they might be a take over play based on the fact that one of thier co owners just jumped ship to micro soft, and micro soft is trying to get into the super computer game.

VRSO - VERSO TECH INC (NasdaqSC)

VoIP hot again ?
Maybe VRSO will make a rebound now ?

VoIP system sales dwarfed those of traditional voice systems for the year ended in June 2005, according to a new research report issued by investment firm Merrill Lynch.
As of June, VoIP system sales grew 31 percent year-over-year, while sales of legacy voice systems declined by 20 percent during the same period, according to the report.
The drop in sales of traditional voice systems apparently cancelled out much of the momentum VoIP system sales gave to the overall telephony market, which grew only 2 percent year-over-year, to $2.24 billion, according to New York-based Merrill Lynch.
