I am a little confused, what happened to the guidance.  I feel the premise behind this site is to isolate stocks on the move, with that being the focus in temultous times we need to know what is going on.  Dave, not here to argue your success but a lot of questions went unanswered today.  emails?, OPWV, did you buy it, why is it not shown on the homepage?  Open positions, what you are doing, where support is, what is the sell discipline.  The majority of the people on this site are investing money on your reccomendations, all I can say is you can't disappear when the times get tough.  It' quite counter productive to the recent success you had before this string of losses.  The emails have been supportive in your corner, but not responding to important questions in tough times I feel is a responsibility you take on when you are making reccomendations.  Would greatly appreciate if Mr. Randolph would respond.  Thanks

guys, this is a free site. David and Co. are trying their best to share their knowledge and info. but he has his own life, and he is not getting paid helping us. he has no responsibility on our losses and wins. see the dislaimer at the bottom of the page. But i am sure david is doing his best to update the pages. it's a bless to us. we cant rely too much on his up to the minute update.
I am also a newbie and i am down 10% total for these 2 weeks. but so be it, the market is expericing the biggest decline since april. :(
stock is all specualtion after all.

Cheers! Lets have a good week next week!   :)

Adam, Though I can't speak for dave and Ram but would like to throw some light. And all is my own assumptions/opinions [I may be wrong big time :)].

You have to know the limitations:

1. There are like 1500+ members and growing everyday.

2. Two part time guys supporting as much as possible. And the questions that you asked have been most probably answered at other places.

3. They are not telling us to invest in their 'picks'. Read the disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

4. Dave always tells when to sell, for all 'picks'. But it will be difficult for him to emotionally support each one of us whenever 3SF stock takes an interday dive. And I fully understand what it means when your portfolio is in deep red.

5. We are the ones who decides when to push the button. And we are responsible for it. Its up to us if we dont feel like selling or buying any 3SF 'mentioned stock'. Take e.g. I did not even consider buying TZOO, not my style. Some other guys did not sell BRVO, its their style. Everyone is free here. Blindly following others may not be the best strategy, no matter how much we like the person or his track record. Bottomline: 'Always decide yourself, though you can use other ppl info as input to your decision'.

6. These guys are telling that they will upgrade the server [which surely need resources] and fix the email problem. Need to be little patient about that.

Hope it helps. As Ram says, this is T2T. We are here to help each other.

cumulina

VERY well put, stocky! (Applaud)

What we get here on 3stocksonfire are examples of how trading can be done, with good educational comments and encouraging help.

The decision to buy and sell is our own.
For example: I sold VPHM before 3sof.
I held on to LSI a bit longer than 3sof.
And I never got in on BRVO (Thinking that it was a one-day-wonder!) (Stupid!)

And I can't blame anyone but myself for whatever...

One have to do a little research oneself on the stocks, too.... ;)

The friendlyness and helpfulness of this whole group is very special.
The work the guys running this site is putting in, is awesome.

I'm learning a bit every day, and I'm very grateful!

This friday was indeed a sad one for most of us.
But also a learning experience.

Hang in there, all stocks don't go down (hopefully!) at the same time.

Cheers!

Happy trading...

:)

Cumulina.

Very well put, Stocky and Cumulina.  I give you both applause.

I have been a member here since June 17.  I decided to join only because of the high caliber of posts I had read, and only because I didn't see any touting of stocks and bashing of other posters, like most other message boards.  I am very, very impressed with this site, and with the willingness of others to talk T2T (trader to trader) in a helpful manner.

Let's please not expect too much of David.  Imagine if 1500 people were watching you trade, hanging on your every word, and waiting for your next post with baited breath!  That's far too much pressure on David, or on any human being.  Let's be fair to him.

Adam

I am not putting blame on stocks oing down.  taht happens everywhere, however a day like yesterday where there were a lot of questions i just feel there could have been better direction.  I think by posting percentage returns to some degree you are taking credit for well deserved performance, the flip side is to be there as those returns are coming down.  OPWV says bought but not on the performance?  I think this group, and site is quality, no reason for Dave or others to be on the defensive.  Just some answers to people's questions is all.  Let's make some $$$

Good luck

Adam

Additionally let's be honest, I read the disclaimer as well, we are all investors here so we are taking part of these ideas, and there is an area for donations.  Again, I am here by choice, and ultimately I push the button, but direction is everything.

cheers

adam....looking for directions or advice from this site is not what makes this site great..for me... it's the charts that dave and the members bring to this site...charts that are ready for a breakout or not...start eduacating yourself with charts....read william o'neil's ...the sucessful investor...it's only 10 bucks...i have been a member for about a week and a half and i ALONE read the chart for bravo...i bought at 10000 shares at 35 cents...it's up to a buck now...bought qoil...made wrong moves...could have made a killing on qoil on pull backs alone...but that in itself is a learning lesson for me...i did not lose a penny on qoil because i got out at what i bought it at two days later...the markets had 5 straight losing sessions and i am way up in profits.....when you blame others..you are really blaming yourself..imo...you won't find a better site than this....just educate yourself with charts and you'll be ok. hope that helps....

Fair enough, Adam, and I give you applause for expressing your concerns in a polite, reasonable manner.  If any of us appear to be defensive, and I will speak only for myself, it is because I think that some members appear to have some very unrealistic expections of David, and I would like to help dispel any notions that David has any obligations to us beyond what he is offering: trades that we can choose take or not take.

I am a member only since June 17, but I know what David has said to us a number of times: he tries not to be too overly concerned with the intraday gyrations of his picks.  He generally looks at his portfolio when the market closes to make his determinations.

When his successful picks went up, David was not on the site, constantly commenting about it.   Why should he be expected to be on site to comment, just because the market is having some sharp down days?  He's busy.

Let's be fair with David.  I don't agree that David's posting his results publicly in any way obligates him to be here when the market is having a bad day,  answering people's questions.   That's far too much to ask of David, or of anyone.  David has a life beyond the stock market.

I hope that I don't sound harsh, Adam, or that I'm singling you out.  I'd just luck to see David be able to do what he does best, "Stocks On Fire," so that his generous effort doesn't turn into "Stock Burnout" for him.

Good luck with your trading, Adam.

Question to the forum, I want to best be able to use the site. Are the members generating the ideas from the site coordinators or the other members.  i assume it is both, but to those that have had success with the site how have you best utilized?
Thanks for the responses, again my posts are not to stir controversy, i merely want to make gobs of money like everyone else.   ;D

In my opinion, this site is a community center for traders...well maybe more like a cafe...sometimes a buffet ;).

The guys who put this site up are Frederick Ramsburg and David Randolph.  Both of them are seasoned traders.

David Randolph runs this particular portfolio out in the open.  It is called 3stocksonfire.  Every move he makes in this "personal" portfolio is out in the open.  His reasons for opening and closing his trades are out in the open too.  He even tries to answer questions about this portfolio with anyone who asks.

This is a free site.  And it is stated by the founders that donations should only be made if this site has really helped you out.

There are other boards where any trader(newbie - Jesse Livermore) can interact with each other on their various plays or even topics such as best broker, market direction and money management.

You can send personal messages to members, rate posting quality(applauding or smiting) and most importantly talk with people who do what you do.

The structure of this website is top-notch but what makes this place amazing in the end is the community(international).  I think you will find there is much to learn here.

Perhaps if one is to see 3stockonfire.com from this perspective it would assist one's "expectations" of the members.

Now lets hit next week hard.   :o

Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. Although I'm a newbie here (about 2+ weeks I think), I've been trading fairly successfully for a goodly number of years. What I truly like about this site is the different approaches to trading that are on display. You have your purely technical traders, your fundamental guys, and a few guys like myself that do a little of both. If there is ONE thing that I have learned down through the years that is of paramount importance , it is this: NEVER STOP LEARNING. Just when you think you've got this game down pat, it will bite you right in the butt and you'll reel off a string of losers. So what do you do when that happens? You try to correct your mistakes and move on. If you do that, you will develop your own style and success will find you. As Ramsburg says, Plan the trade and Trade the plan. That is very good advice and so is this: Pay attention to what the traders on this site are saying. They know what they are talking about. All The Best

Just an idea, but maybe on a certain time of the day say at ..(3 pm EST) for example that ppl that would be interested use the chat room to discuss the the 3 picks that are posted and to evaluate how they are doing..instead of waiting till sombody answers the post on board. This would be done on a daily basis and maybe solve some issues and concerns that anybody would have concerning the picks.I have not used the chat room myself so forgive me,if this already being done just i thought this might be a good idea.I dont mean to complicate things just trying to help  :)
