looks like that 2.95 AH close was an anomaly on Friday.  DSTI back in range, currently 3.12-3.14 PM

Well, it was clearly a manipulative AH session. Stock takes off on huge relative volume, dragged down on 61K shares. My guess, an attempt to get some cheap shares.

Last trade 3.20

It's down again today and not sure if I should sell it all and hope to buy back in. I jhave held this for a few days now and getting nervous. There doesn't seem to be a consistent pattern although the last couple days, one it's up, the next it's down.... I might want to see if an up day tomorrow happens and sell then but who knows. Still a very volatile stock to own and could get creamed but so far I have rebought this for a 5th time and for a 5th time, still making money. <crosses fingers>

I wouldn't be in any hurry to sell DSTI...especially with the State of the Union speech coming up tomorrow. You may very well see a bounce after the speech, as alternative energy (i.e. wind, solar, biofuels) are likely to be mentioned.

Wooo doggies...DSTI's so hot right now  ::)  And the RSI's just NOW approaching 50!

DST looking good once again.  Some resistance at 3.50 area, but I like it.  Jumped in this morning.

Does anyone think that today's spike is taking into account what the content of the State of the Union has in it in regards to alternative energy? Or would one expect that the rise today will continue tomorrow as a result of the speech? I know it's hard to say since I have been in this for the 2nd time this month but this thing still makes me nervous with the heavy ups and downs.

Yes...I do believe some of DSTI's rise today is because of the State of the Union Address tonight.  I've played alternative energy's before the state of the union before and they always drop the following day before close.

DSTI may have other things in the pipe...Techninally it will have a tough time with 3.90....and  I would not want to see it drop below that ascending line or else it will go back to test $2.  Just my opinion.

lancefur

I thought so. This stock seems to always hit this resistence and cannot fight it's way above. I think I will hold into tomorrow and hope this thing gets slugged out of the park and we see a serious rise in DSTI and ESLR as I currently hold both.

I sold my DSTI today.

Thought about holding overnight to get a possible pre-market gapper after the speech tonight.  I would have then sold pre-market tomorrow.  Good luck what ever you decide to do.

Bush Seeks Cutback in Gas Consumption

Bush Asks Congress to Help Nation Reduce Its Gasoline Consumption During the Next 10 Years

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush on Tuesday asked Congress to help the nation reduce its gasoline consumption during the next ten years, outlining an energy plan that would seek increased fuel economy standards from the auto industry.

"It is in our vital interest to diversify America's energy supply -- and the way forward is through technology," Bush said in his State of the Union address before Congress.

Bush's proposal would raise the fuel efficiency of passenger cars and light trucks by an estimated 4 percent annually, a move which brought questions within the industry and among its supporters in Congress.

Rep. John Dingell, the Michigan Democrat who leads the House Energy and Commerce Committee, said the plan, which would seek a 20 percent reduction in gas consumption by 2017, would require a thorough examination, and following what the "doctors of medicine say: 'First do no harm.'"

"I'm going into this thing with an open mind. I'm going to listen to everything they say, but this thing drips questions," Dingell said.

Ziad Ojakli, Ford Motor Co.'s group vice president for government affairs, said the automaker would support "equitable" reforms to the fuel economy system for passenger cars established by the government.

Josephine Cooper, Toyota Motor North America's group vice president for government and industry affairs, said the automaker "supports the direction of these goals."

General Motors Corp., meanwhile, said in a statement that it would try to ensure that "any fuel economy increases are technically achievable and do not compromise safety, performance, or limit consumer choice."

Environmentalists noted that the proposal could lead to an average fuel economy of 34 miles per gallon in vehicles by 2017, but it would not require the industry to increase the fuel economy of their new cars.

Instead, it would seek increases beginning in model year 2010 for cars and 2012 for light trucks, leaving open the possibility of future increases if Congress provides more flexibility in the regulation.

"This will only be a breakthrough if the president and Congress work together to pass a law guaranteeing that this goal becomes reality, while avoiding loopholes and escape clauses," said David Friedman, research director for the Union of Concerned Scientists.

Bush was "focusing on the wrong solutions when the right ones are easily available," such as fuel economy standards of 40 miles per gallon, said Dan Becker, director of the Sierra Club's global warming program.

Bush's plan would sharply increase the amount of ethanol and other alternative fuels that the federal government mandates must be produced, accounting for three-quarters of the displaced gasoline by 2017.

The proposal would set the amount of ethanol and other alternative fuels to be blended into the fuel supply at 35 billion gallons by 2017, up from 7.5 billion gallons in 2012. The standard would be expanded beyond ethanol to include oil alternatives such as biodiesel, methanol, butanol and hydrogen, officials said.

In June, the heads of GM, Ford and DaimlerChrysler AG said by 2010 they would double their production of "flexible fuel" vehicles capable of running on ethanol blends of 15 percent gasoline and 85 percent ethanol.

The Detroit automakers have produced more than 5 million of the flex-fuel vehicles and said they could build about 2 million annually by 2010.

Industry officials have said they remain hamstrung by a lack of fueling stations that offer ethanol blends. Less than 1 percent of the nation's 170,000 gasoline stations offer E85; most are located in the Midwest.

The remainder of the reductions in gas consumption would come from raising fuel economy standards for passenger cars and seeking further increases for pickup trucks, sport utility vehicles and vans.

Revisions to the program for new car fleets would be difficult because Congress has denied the administration the authority in the past and many lawmakers representing auto workers remain worried it could lead to job losses among struggling domestic automakers and suppliers.

"The whole thing comes down to jobs. You can't just impose this kind of regulatory concept on a company that is coming out of a difficult period," said Rep. Joe Knollenberg, R-Mich.

DaimlerChrysler AG's Chairman Dieter Zetsche, in a speech at the Washington Auto Show before Bush's address, said the current system -- called the Corporate Average Fuel Economy -- ran counter to the principles of a free market system and presented major challenges for the industry.

"American policy-makers must adopt a new and unique formula that fits here, a formula that encourages more technologies and more choices -- and with incentives that build momentum in the market," Zetsche said. "Higher CAFE alone simply won't get it done."

Mike Stanton, president and chief executive of the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers, said the proposal was "very, very aggressive" and the industry's ability to meet new fuel economy demands would depend upon the amount of lead time given to automakers and how quickly they could implement fuel-saving technologies.

The Transportation Department already has revamped the rules for pickups, SUVs and minivans, creating a sliding mileage scale that is based on a vehicle's size. The overall standard was increased slightly; smaller vehicles now must meet higher mileage requirements than larger ones. The biggest SUVs were exempted until 2011.

Bush wants the same ability to reform mileage rules for passenger cars, which today must meet a fleet average of 27.5 miles per gallon, a standard unchanged in two decades.

Automakers have been largely supportive of the changes to the light truck program, which is based on the vehicle's size, because the system has been based on scientific study and flexibility. Some consumer groups and environmentalist have said the system could provide incentives for automakers to build larger vehicles subject to lower standards.

The proposal includes a system of trading or "banking" credits to meet new standards, which could lead to Detroit's automakers buying fuel credits from Japanese automakers such as Honda Motor Co. and Toyota Motor Corp., which have higher fleetwide fuel economy levels.

If I was paying attention yesterday I should have sold at 3.50 but now have inserted a stop at 3.20 to take a 25% profit this go around. Not as good as the 53% last time but this seems to be the only one I have gotten right the last couple weeks. :( I need another one of these that is ripe to rise.

DAYSTAR TECHNOLOGIES INC

BUYINS.NET: DSTI Has Been On BUYINS.NET Naked Short List For 13 Consecutive Trading Days2/12/2007

BUYINS.NET, www.buyins.net, announced today that these select companies have been on the NASDAQ, AMEX and NYSE naked short threshold list for 13 consecutive trading days: DayStar Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: DSTI). For a complete list of companies on the naked short list please visit our web site. To find the SqueezeTrigger Price before a short squeeze starts in any stock, go to www.buyins.net.

Regulation SHO took effect January 3, 2005, and provides a new regulatory framework governing short selling of securities. It was designed with the objective of simplifying and modernizing short sale regulation and providing controls where they are most needed. At the conclusion of each settlement day, data is provided on securities in which: 1) there are at least 10,000 shares in aggregate failed deliveries for the security for five consecutive settlement days, and 2) these failures constitute at least 0.5% of the issuer\'s total shares outstanding. Regulation SHO mandates that, if a clearing agent has had a fail-to-deliver position for 13 consecutive settlement days, that clearing agent, and the broker/dealer it clears for, must purchase securities to close out its fail to deliver position.

DayStar Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: DSTI) engages in the development, manufacture, and marketing of Photovoltaic Foil products that convert sunlight directly into electricity. The company specifically developed a thin-film solar cell based upon the copper-indium-gallium-selenide semiconductor material system, commonly known as CIGS. It manufactures CIGS solar cells, which are deposited on flexible metal foils using production processes adapted from computer component manufacturing. As an alternative to wafer-silicon solar cells, CIGS solar cell has mechanical flexibility and durability. DayStar Technologies was co-founded by Eric Cole and John R. Tuttle in 1997. The company is headquartered in Halfmoon, New York. With 7.39 million shares outstanding and 1 million shares declared short as of January 2007, the failure to deliver in shares of DSTI has not been resolved and a buy-in is imminent.

About BUYINS.NET

WWW.BUYINS.NET is a service designed to help bonafide shareholders of publicly traded US companies fight naked short selling. Naked short selling is the illegal act of short selling a stock when no affirmative determination has been made to locate shares of the stock to hypothecate in connection with the short sale. Buyins.net has built a proprietary database that uses Threshold list feeds from NASDAQ, AMEX and NYSE to generate detailed and useful information to combat the naked short selling problem. For the first time, actual trade by trade data is available to the public that shows the attempted size, actual size, price and average value of short sales in stocks that have been shorted and naked shorted. This information is valuable in determining the precise point at which short sellers go out-of-the-money and start losing on their short and naked short trades.

BUYINS.NET has built a massive database that collects, analyzes and publishes a proprietary SqueezeTrigger for each stock that has been shorted, www.buyins.net/squeezetrigger.pdf. The SqueezeTrigger database of nearly 1,200,000,000 short sale transactions goes back to January 1, 2005, and calculates the exact price at which the Total Short Interest is short in each stock. This data was never before available prior to January 1, 2005, because the Self Regulatory Organizations (primary exchanges) guarded it aggressively. After the SEC passed Regulation SHO, exchanges were forced to allow data processors like Buyins.net to access the data.

The SqueezeTrigger database collects individual short trade data on over 7,000 NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ stocks and general short trade data on nearly 8,000 OTCBB and PINKSHEET stocks. Each month the database grows by approximately 50,000,000 short sale transactions and provides investors with the knowledge necessary to time when to buy and sell stocks with outstanding short positions. By tracking the size and price of each month\'s short transactions, BUYINS.NET provides institutions, traders, analysts, journalists and individual investors the exact price point where short sellers start losing money.

In this ascending triangle scenario, would the upwwards breakout occur tomorrow or within the next couple days? I see that is is assumed to occur tomorrow but would like to gain more insight before I commit again. I haven't lost on any trade I have made with this stock and I feel it coming again where I should buy into again.

Look forward to opinions.
