David,

What is your plan on SILC? Down some today.

Thanks a lot!

People selling don't know what they're doing, SILC is an easy double from current levels in my opinion, because they just made EPS of $0.20 in Q4. Not considering future growth (and there's extremely strong growth), this company will have a full year 2007 EPS of $0.8. The industry average earnings multiple is 44, that gives me a price per share of $35.2.

I'll hold.

Buy HAUP for since its breaking out! I realize you own it for the long-term portfolio, but money is money and HAUP will make money for the short term one as well!

HAUP, lovely stock. What I'm finding interesting with this 3 Stocks on Fire Portfolio experience is that it is really hard to find better stocks than the ones we're holding on the Main Portfolio.

Anyway, HAUP is trading just 32,000 shares today, so not on fire. I hope it is able to close above $8, but if not today, no problem, I have patience.

VSGN, Canadian bio tech. It had a bad trial result last summer which caused large drop, but it has been trending up steadily and volume here and in Toronto has been very high.

waverider

thanks David on WEL....what is the next resistant you see for UPDA.OB

XIDE

Hi nica33, XIDE has an awesome long and short term chart :o Definitely on fire today.

Let me make some fundamental tests:

1) Market cap $340 M (a bit large for what we're looking here, but still acceptable);
2) Incredible revenue numbers of about $2.79 B for 2006. Price to Sales Ratio of about 0.12;
3) Still losing more than $30 M a quarter for the past 3 quarters;
4) No short term liquidity problems;

So, the problem with XIDE is that they had just one profitable quarter since they're a publicly traded company, and that was the first, Q2 2004. But still, the Price to Sales Ratio is just 0.12 and the industry average is 1.98.

The market is telling us the company will approach profitability (or at least lose less, soon), and if it starts closing that revenue multiple gap to its industry average, it can be a multi bagger (but that's of course a long shot).

Up 8.5% as we speak ... not bad, my short term outlook is positive.

I am finding this experience as well but one can hope and get lucky enough to ride a swing that may not be found on the system you use for the main portfolio since we have many inputs from many traders, monitoring many different stocks so...... I guess this brings me to an interesting question, are you using the same tools for the 3SOF and you are for the main? If memory serves me correctly, you used Metastock or something like that that analyzes 11,000 stocks and gives you something you can use as a tool for stock recommendations? I am only 4 years older than you so my memory tends to fade a bit so please refresh me as I have too many balls in the air and sometimes they drop and I just didn't see the darn ball drop. lol

I ask because with a pick of SILC yesterday, would that have hit the normal radar or was that something that came from a trader goin, hey this thing is on fire!? I know it's down today but 5% in one day ain't bad. Thanks again for all you David!
Live hard, love harder and be happy.

I love SILC's numbers too so I am holding despite a small drop today and with the long term bull trend, this could also go on the main but I love it either way! ROCK ON!

How about JOB?

JOB, great fundamentals !

The stock is coming down some after the huge gap up at the open, but I estimate full year earnings of $0.24, that means an earnings multiple of 9, compared to the industry average of 24, so, cheap by all means.

Just about $11 M in market cap. Cool stock, but not on fire today, despite being up 18%, because it is below the opening price.

David what you think of ALGN?

Hi Lancefur, it looks like SILC is now up, not down :D

I guess I should have bought it for the Main too, because I really appreciate this stock's fundamentals and long term prospects.

No, I'm not using the same strategy. On the Main I can keep a stock even if it shows some short term weakness, here I won't support more than a few days of weakness. On the Main I diversify capital through 15 holdings, here just 3. On the Main I don't buy pennies, here I do.

About that technical filter, it only works with end of the day data, but it would be spectacular to use it intraday. I'm thinking of subscribing a service to update my Metastock software with intraday data so I can use its filters and explorers (I know there's a service from e-signal that does that). Thanks for the suggestion Lance :)

Yep, all 3 Stocks on Fire on positive ground now, cool 8) (I'm feeling TRMM is about to breakout above those $3.32, it's almost ready)

lancefur

I have to admit I didn't buy into TRMM at the same time as you did but funny thing is I did today and at the same entry price as you. Let's make that breakout together with everyone here!   8)

look at NBIX

3 minute look for NBIX:

http://video.google.com/googleplayer.swf?docId=6407121766023336745&hl=en

(if the video is all black, please use this link)

This is a biotechnology company with almost zero revenues now and $40 M losses just in Q3. Also a $528 M market cap, and we're looking for less than $500 M market cap companies, as you read on our FAQ.

Thanks anyway, good luck :)
