Thanks se7en for your posts!

Good morning, and good afternoon for those east of the Atlantic ocean!

So, where does this stock (NVAX) stand for today in light of all the recent news?  Dang, I am still a "newbie" swing trader, but here are my thoughts on the following questions I've asked myself:

1.  Why did Novavax release 4+ million shares to raise $18 million?
2.  Why did NVAX dip yesterday afternoon instead of rising after the Bush's talk?
3.  Should I hold/sell/buy NVAX?
4.  What other good stocks should I be looking at?

1.  As CEO stated in the last three conference presentations of the "new management's" Business Plan to reduce debt and increase revenue, $12.5 million deal with Esprit Pharma partnership along with bond holders' note conversion are in line with the company's "transitional phase" of implementing their Business Plan to further reduce debt and increase revenue.  $18 million raised by 4+ million shares would be in line with their Business Plan and further improve the balance sheet to make Novavax even more attractive while the CEO is "actively" seeking government/corporate partnership.

Keep in mind that Avian vaccine division is a "small" long-term value creator for Novavax (but they do have a "full solution" that is "best in class!") that is not generating revenue right now.  Instead, it will require more capital.  I believe the company is doing the right things to manage and grow the company with their existing product lines (Estrasorb and two new products to be released in one week!) to generate revenue.

The two new product launches will require capital to promote and distribute using direct "field" sales representatives (100+ and increasing fast) and media ad campaign (trade magazine ads, etc.) and $18 million raised by the sale of additional shares will support the launch of the two new products and not pull existing capital from current projects (like Avian vaccine development).  Good job!  I am sure the CEO will address this issue and other updates on the upcoming November 7th conference presentation.

2.  The new Fed Chairman Benanke announced that interest rate would be raised and it was raised yesterday.  Friday's bullish rally turned bearish as Asian and European markets became mixed.  Today, European markets are mostly in the red.

We are still in the tail end of the historical late July-September bear market.  Bearish market trend continues to "haunt" us in midst of less than great US and world news (Iraq war, hurricane damages, Avian flu, interest rate hike, cooling housing boom, and now indictment inquiry of Bush).  So, if NVAX was affected by the general "still" bearish market trend, then yesterday afternoon's drop doesn't look that bad.

3.  As David Randolph mentioned last week, NVAX is still a very "speculative" play that is not "trendable."  Although Novavax has SOLID (FDA approved, clinically proven, patents good til 2015, etc.) existing and pending product lines, current Avian related news will influence the stock price short-term.

NVAX is leading the Avian plays in the gain/volume activity, but we must be careful after two days of "stellar" gains and volume activity.  Since NVAX is "speculative" for now, if you have any "selloff" concerns, they you may want to cash out and wait for more "trendable" gain activity to return.  For those choosing to hold/trade NVAX during this very volatile time for NVAX in still bearish market with nervous selloffs, like myself, watch for profit taking/selloff/rebound that will probably continue for the rest of the week.

4.  I am not an investor.  I am a short-term swing trader with a typical trade range of 1-3 days.  So I always maintain a list of 20-40 stocks that I monitor to swing trade with and "investigate and research" new prospects.  Although NVAX has shown nice gain/loss activity this past week, we as traders should always keep a look out for the next group of stocks to "diversify" our gains into, to continue to trade and maximize our gains.  As many of you asked, some of the stocks I have swing traded in the recent past are: VPHM, HOM, AOB, END, RGEN,  PETS, ESLR, ELN, TIDE, ZENX.OB, BTUI, GNBT (parked my trade capital for 1 day), HEB, NVAX.

Be careful this morning!

Good trading!

Thanks to some Yahoo MB's

Well, Novavax's CEO is guest speaker on CNBC @ 3:00:

Institutional % up:

Here's my two cents:
So far during intraday, the support seems to be at around $4.20. Institutions are still buying and the 18 million raised is going to help with the new vaccine development.
In my opinion, it seems that this support is showing signs of immense potential during today's 'test'. This is one emotional rollercoaster ride, but the fundamentals seems to be very solid. I'm confident and terrifide of this stock. It's either one hell of a stock or a tanker.

From Harry Newton's Technology Investor column:

from Harry:

Bush puts aside $7.1 billion for the flu. Until we know more, Bush's plan sounds a little screwy. For example, the plan calls for spending $1.2 billion to acquire enough egg-based vaccine by 2009 to protect 20 million people against the deadly H5N1 strain of avian flu. I wonder which 20 million? I hope it's only for New York City, i.e. my family and I. The rest of you can catch the flu and croak? Of course, by the time the Feds get the vaccine to me, the avian flu virus will have mutated and what I get injected with will do me zero good. And the rest of the country will have a good laugh. It's time to stay away from flu stocks. This is getting sillier and sillier.

VICL flying today!

Well, I am not great at stock trading so take this with a grain of salt. I am sitting with 6000 shares of NVAX and I think I will stay with it.  I see the secondary as a positive in that it raises capital.

1) Three institutional investors already bought the shares at $4.30 today.
2) This gives them cash for their daily expenditures and/or strengthens their balance sheet.
3) I believe NVAX will be bought our or find a big partner.  Their vaccine is very valuable.
4) On a smaller note, their new products will hopefully bring in positive cash flow in the future)
5) The money coming in this quarter from Espririt (I believe $8 million) will be a positive on their income statements thereby strengthening their overall fundamentals).

By the way, Xlivelife - what website did you get that recent chart from (4 messages ago). ;)

I don't know? I thought the plan was specifically going after new technology creating cell-based vaccines that could be produced with a few weeks...not 2009.

I thought the emphasis was put on the fact that only 1 U.S. vaccine company now exists. Therefore, Pres Bush wants to provide 2.8 billion to help other U.S. vaccine companies create cell based vaccines in future development.

Depite all that...how does that affect NVAX?
